Ristorante Thai Orchidee — Restaurant in Garda

We waited 2 hours for food and as I was waiting 15minutes in a line to pay they decided to bring a large plate of noodles with the tiniest amount of vegetables, i felt like it was an insult. I'm very disappointed. Paid 88 euros for a big waste of time. In the 2 hours nobody came to ask of everything was OK, why we were sitting with empty plates nothing. We complained after 1 hour and they gave us a bottle of cheap prosecco, which would have been kind if they had not forgot us for another hour! Obviously it's not normal to wait 2 hours, I did notice that everyone else waited an hour on average and many people were complaining amongst themselves. The service was friendly if you got one. But friendly doesn't mean much if they don't come back to your table and they forget twice and then whip up a plate of crappy noodles when the owner saw me waiting at the cash register!!! (Yes I saw you in the kitchen as you recognised me and yes I'm sorry to be truthful but I'm sure you will agree, we got noodles with nothing and I paid almost 100 euros). Driving down the side of Lake Garda one Sunday afternoon looing to have lunch somewhere, we noticed this place as we were looking for somewhere to park. It turns out not to be too far from the main parking which allowed us to get back to our car just as the deluge began. We had intended/hoped to have local food by the lake but we don't have a Thai near us so we thought we'd give it a go. When the waitress came to take our order and we started asking about nuts she had to get a colleague who was helpful and cheerful and seemed very familiar with the cooking process. The food was excellent. Light tasty sauce not too spicy with plenty of meat and veg. The starters were well cooked and interesting. Unfortunately I was driving otherwise I would have liked to sample some of their wide range of gins and tonics. I got chatting with the waiter as I was paying. He seemed knowledgeable and considering the mojito I thing would have come up with some tasty drinks. Definitely want to go back, not least...

Just had the weirdest experience here. We have been dying for Thai food as we used to visit Thailand every year and now live in Puglia where it’s impossible to find. So we might have had our hopes up a bit.

The vibe was weird from the beginning, no music, no atmosphere, everyone just kind of staring at each other, although the space was pretty. There was some weird flirting with two Thai girls and a guy going on at the bar so everyone was watching them get more and more drunk while we waited for our food.

We were excited to talk about the dishes, but no one wanted to converse. We speak Italian, English and even a little bit of Thai. We were basically ignored. We asked if they could do a specific dish and (the I guess owner?) said she could and then walked away mid conversation? We never got that dish. The guy at the bar didn’t get either of the girls either.
