Antica Vaccheria — Restaurant in Genoa

At first the place looked nice, but the attitude from the waitress started to denote that foreigners and tourist are not welcomed. They got super offended because we just got in and sit, but since they were open and there was no host, we thought it was the thing to do. After waiting a couple of hours (because they don’t serve food until 7:00 pm), I asked about the pizza and they told me that it was only with a reservation. Finally they agreed to gave us a table and by the time we switched tables (because they told us to) one of the waitress (the only that sort of was able to speak a quite poor English) started to complain about us with her colleagues but, since Italian and Spanish are not so different I could understand what she said. Frequent(av)o ciclicamente questo locale quando mi trovavo a Genova, ma ieri mi è accaduta una cosa che mi ha lasciato basito e che mi porta a non andarvi mai più. Vado a pranzo con mia moglie e chiedo due insalate di riso. chi è già stato qui, sa che la descrizione in menù parla di "due torrette di riso con....". La cameriera mi comunica che ne è rimasta solo una e allora mia moglie opta per una caprese. Poco dopo la cameriera ritorna dichiarando di essersi sbagliata e offrendosi di portare due insalate di riso. Scioccamente accettiamo. Infatti arrivano "due" insalate di riso, composte da "una" porzione di riso divisa in due. Nessun problema, può capitare e non obietto nulla circa il fatto che le due torrette non esistano. Siccome siamo in vena di "libidine", terminato il piatto, chiediamo anche due gelati al cioccolato ed io, per premunirmi alle microcongestioni che talvolta mi colpiscono quando mangio un gelato dopo pranzo, chiedo anche un bicchiere di acqua. Al momento di pagare il conto mi vengono chiesti 30 cents per il bicchiere d'acqua!!!!! L'istinto di litigare è forte, poi preferisco fare il signore. Con 30 cents loro non si arricchiscono e io non mi impoverisco, però di certo loro perdono un cliente. Non gliene importerà nulla, ma state tranquilli che la cosa è reciproca.

PS - Tra l'altro il gelato era discreto, ma l'insalata di riso era un insieme di sottaceti di...

Very nice and welcoming. The service is very good. Lots of locals eating here (always a good sign) and a bit different from the normal pizzeria. Even the pizza they serve "pinsa" is different. Very nice indeed and finally some very different topping ideas!!! We had 5 different ones so had a good taste and they are all good!!!! My favourite was the one with honey and lard!!! Sounds strange but really...
