Pretty cool place. Just by the train station, and open until late at night. These were the main reasons why we chose this spot after our late train. Starting off with the service, all the staff was lovely and very friendly. We were 4 people ordering 4 dishes, though, and one of our dishes was late. We ordered the seafood spaghetti, cutlet with fries, pesto pasta and bologna spaghetti. The lasagna was late to the point everyone else was done eating when it arrived. We didn't mind, but I hope it does not happen to others. The atmosphere was pretty good, mostly average without a certain view. Though I must say the place was very neat and clean. They had handmade glasses on the tables which was an authentic touch. The food was delicious. 3 out of our 4 dishes were amazingly good and made us enjoy our time there. One of the dishes, the cutlet, was delicious but presented in a much more plain manner than anything else on the table. Plus, it may not be for everyone's tongue as some people in our group didn't like it as much while others loved it. Price wise, I'd say its a bit on the expensive side but considering the luxurious vibes and delicious food, I assume it is understandable. Overall, I'd say it is worth visiting, just choose your dish wisely (would recommend the 3 dishes mentioned above excluding...
Read moreWe came here unexpectedly while staying in Manarola for a few nights. An orange weather alert closed all the businesses in Cinque Terre, so we hopped on the train to La Spezia, and I am very fortunate fate put us at Ristorante Roma.
We began with the seafood salad- everything we wanted in one dish while staying along the Italian coast. Warmed slightly, the perfect amount of acidity, loaded with fresh octopus, squid, mussels, clams, and shrimp. Fantastic
Next we had this regions traditional pesto dish. Made with the unique pasta to this area (forget the name) and a light/fragrant/creamy pesto with a handful of green beans and potatoes. Stunning example of the traditional dish, I’ll be having dreams about this one.
I had the beef with porcini mushrooms and black truffle, and my partner had the Turbot. Both prepared perfectly, flavor bombs.
Dessert we had the sampler (forget the real name). The WALNUT pie is absolutely superb. To top it all off, our waiter was in every way a true professional and very knowledgeable in all aspects of the experience, and spoke English. We were introduced to the owner while leaving, she made us feel even more welcome and appreciated before ending our night. 6...
Read moreExcellent food. Only negative was spent more than $100 for our meal then hassled by cashier to not pay in euros because they somehow didn’t get as much. Stood firm but made us uncomfortable.
Updated after owner response provided inaccurate and untruthful information. Traveled for nearly 20 years all over Europe and ALWAYS paid in euros and NEVER BEFORE been pressured about using a different currency. My point is we paid premium prices without complaining….and the restaurant should not have then gotten greedy by trying to also collect a currency commission on us! We paid ZERO commission by paying in Euros with our credit card and no foreign transaction fee. The owner is completely wrong and wants to profit on the foreign exchange from unsuspecting tourists. Be careful if you go to this place and make sure they don’t pull...
