I recently had the pleasure of staying at Le 5 Terre La Spezia, and it turned out to be an excellent choice for a comfortable and affordable stay. The hotel is situated in a central location, making it incredibly convenient for exploring both La Spezia and the stunning Cinque Terre region. The train station is a block away and makes traveling to the region and daily travel between the villages very easy. Unfortunately our train was cancelled due to a strike but we were able to rent a car and drive from Florence. The hotel has a handful of spots at the parking garage next door which accommodated our sudden change of plans.
The value for money here is impressive. For a very reasonable rate, you get a cozy and well-maintained room with all the essential amenities. We did not see or interact with the staff as we arrived each day after normal hours but they were always ready to provide useful local tips and recommendations via whatsapp.
The central location was a major plus—close to public transport, local eateries, and shopping. This allowed us to easily access the nearby Cinque Terre villages without any hassle.
Overall, Le 5 Terre La Spezia offers a great balance of comfort, convenience, and value. If you're looking for a base in La Spezia to explore the beautiful Cinque Terre area, I highly recommend...
Read moreIn short||- Nice staff although nobody on site to check in on arrival, keys in lockboxes.|- Rooms look nice, beds are uncomfortable though. |- Location hard to reach by car, narrow streets |- Although located near station and near tunnel to reach town center the tunnel at night feels unsafe and the neighborhood is typical a “nearby railway station” area. |- doesn’t feel like a hotel, no permanent staff on site|- parking narrow, but sufficient (don’t bring a big car though), no EV-charging available |- no food available on site, for breakfast there are a few restaurants in town with which the hotel collaborates, |- only a few cockroaches in the room, no other insects like mosquitoes, spiders or other pests||As for Cinque Terre during our stay in July, very busy, walking shoulder to shoulder in many places. But the boat ride is and views from the water are wonderful. | |I think, from the description on booking.com we expected a bit more and then it’s harder for the hotel to meet expectations. ||Also we think it’s better to book directly through the hotel instead of...
Read moreNot a good reception experience as they have maned check in only between 3-6, and we had to send many mails and WhatsApp before we got the address of the apartment and parking and the enterence codes.||But the bigger problem is the room. Very dusty room. Curls of dust were everywhere, and it was impossible to open the window for some fresh air as we were on street level. When I wrote the reception via WhatsApp (as no one is actually here) she replied - "about the dust don't worry, all our rooms are cleaned totally and there is no dust inside of the room". I sent some pictures of the dust curls, no reply. The towels were wet and had a strong smell of mold. The chandelier had only one bulb working out of five, no spoons by the coffee mugs so we couldn't make coffee, no breakfast coupons (to eat outside as promised) although we booked a room with breakfast. The shower was so tiny it was really challenging to use. Go...
