One of the most romantic fine dining experiences on Lake Garda shores. “Classique” is located in a majestic 19th Century Villa originally owned by Austrian Princess Catherine Strauss overlooking the promenade of Lazise town and fully restored in 2002 with its ornaments, colored stucco and mosaic floors. It is also a boutique hotel with 4 double rooms, 2 junior suites and 1 superior suite located in the tower of the Villa. Renowned amongst the many German tourists who regularly enjoy Gardasee vacations I strongly suggest booking in advance as the restaurant quality is outstanding and can get very busy during peak season (From Easter to September). Extremely kind and experienced uniform dressed personnel will be at your service for suggestions on renowned local dishes. We were 5 at Easter Time and we took: Cocktail di Mazzancolle 80’s style (80’s style prawn cocktail; 14€), Sarde del Garda Ai tre modi Fritte, Alla Griglia, In Saor (Sardines from Garda, fried, grilled and in saor; 14€), Fritto Misto della Casa (Mixed fried fish of the house, 18€), Tonno Rosso Mackintosh “Ikejime” Salicornia e Coulis agli agrumi (Seared Mackintosh “Ikejime” red tuna, glasswort and citrus coulis; 23€), Gamberoni imperiali alla griglia (Grilled king prawns; 22€), Tagliata ribeye di Black Angus (280g) con porcini (Sliced Black Angus Beef 280gr with porcini mushrooms; 24€), A bottle of Gewurtztraminer (Albino Armani) white dry fruity wine (23€), a not alcoholic Hugo cocktail (3.5€), a Negroni cocktail (7.5€), 4 Aperol Spritz (6.5€ each), Water bottles (0.7l; 4€ each), Millefoglie Cream Cake, Pistacchio Sicilian Cannoli and Tiramisù (7€). Absolutely worth for romantic dinners with your partner at sunset time as well as business corporate classic dining. Opening Every Day: Café 8AM-11PM/...
Read moreWe finally visited classique that I had always been curious about. Known for its impressive crowd, my friends and I decided to give it a try. Overall, our experience was pleasant, with some notable highlights and a few disappointing aspects.
The view of Lake Garda from the restaurant was truly breathtaking. We couldn't help but appreciate the serene beauty of the surroundings as we enjoyed our meal. The ambiance certainly added an extra touch to our dining experience.
However, I must admit that the service fell short of our expectations. Some of the waiters seemed disinterested, their lack of enthusiasm affected our overall impression and made us feel somewhat unwelcome.
As for the food itself, we encountered a bit of a letdown. One dish, in particular, left us unimpressed—the pasta vongole. Regrettably, it was devoid of flavor, leaving us craving for more taste and seasoning. The lackluster taste was a disappointment, especially considering the high expectations we had for this renowned restaurant. Additionally, the portion sizes were noticeably small, which left us feeling less satisfied than we had hoped.
While our visit to this restaurant was enjoyable, it didn't entirely live up to the hype. The positive aspects, such as the family-friendly atmosphere and the stunning view of Lake Garda, provided a pleasing backdrop. However, the underwhelming service, particularly from some of the waiters, left a bitter taste in our mouths. Moreover, the bland pasta vongole and small portions of food were disappointing.
As a result, while it may be worth trying this restaurant at least once, based on our experience, I don't foresee myself returning in the future. There are other dining establishments in the area that offer a more well-rounded experience and better...
Read moreThere are restaurants you stumble into on holiday and promptly forget, somewhere between the airport security line and the dubious duty-free limoncello. Classicque is not one of them.
No, Classicque is the kind of place you remember. The kind of place you return to—every single time you come to Lake Garda. Because in a region full of restaurants that scream tourist trap (hello laminated menus and sad Aperol spritzes), Classicque is the rare gem that actually gives a damn.
We started, as all good things do, with a litre of white wine. Was it local? Yes. Was it cold? Very. Did it make everything taste even better? Absolutely.
The Sicilian red prawn tartare was the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-conversation, eyes widening in that wait, is it supposed to be this good? way. The mussels came swimming in a tomato sauce so good we considered asking for a spoon—or a straw. And the local oysters? Incredibly fresh. If they were any fresher, they’d still be sending emails from the lake.
For mains, the red prawn pasta continued the crustacean excellence—rich, savoury, and just messy enough to remind you you’re on holiday. The grilled sea bass was so fresh it might’ve leapt onto the grill itself.
No dessert. Not because there weren’t any good options, but because we were gloriously, hopelessly full. Instead, an espresso (naturally) and a limoncello (also naturally)—the Italian version of a mic drop.
Is this the most inventive, avant-garde place on the lake? No. But that’s exactly the point. Classicque is honest. It’s consistent. It delivers. Every single time. And in a region overflowing with pretty views and underwhelming food, that’s worth more than all the lakefront sunsets...
