Gusto Liberrima - All’ombra del barocco — Restaurant in Lecce

Very nice experience. We had dinner one time and a wine tasting session on a separate occasion. The wine tasting was very well organized by Federica -the sommelier- who alternated between English and Italian with the table next to us. Overall it was a quite fun exchanging points of view about the wines with Federica and the other table. She took the time to explain about the history of each of the Pugliese wines we were trying.

The food -we ordered it separately- was very well paired with the wines. The gnocchi with boar sauce was a great combination with the reds I asked. The parmigiana with ricotta is excellent as a first course. The sommelier can advise on wine pairings as well. Staff is very nice and professional. Strongly...

Ma cos’è successo??? Allora premesso che nella quasi totalità dei locali leccesi si percepisce la mancanza di un proprietario/direttore che supervisioni l’attività come si dovrebbe fare in un’attività di ristorazione. Qui il locale dopo alcuni mesi che non venivo è stato modificato sia negli interni che nel personale totalmente scoordinato, inefficiente o addormentato. Sono andata più volte prima di scrivere questa recensione e purtroppo c’è solo da prendere atto.. Il Banconista parla da solo ed è sempre molto nevrotico ed infastidito. Non si capisce come mai sia stato tolto il grande tavolo/bancone nella prima sala che rendeva piacevole e conviviale la sosta per il caffè, un dolce..un’aperitivo..un pranzo veloce ed al suo posto sono stati messi tre tavolini con le solite poltroncine di velluto che ormai si vedono dappertutto e sono assolutamente inutili. È stata chiusa la Liberrima Gusto, unico shop di food, vino e liquori decente della città a discapito del bar/ristorante che è stato intristito nell’ambiente (ed incupito) da queste grandi librerie di legno (con i prodotti del negozio chiuso) che hanno peggiorato l’atmosfera del ristorante e l’esperienza d’acquisto perché chi volesse mai comprare qualcosa è obbligato a farsi strada tra i tavolini di chi pranza o cena mentre questi ti guardano male perché sei lì a 10 centimetri a cercare la bottiglia di vino che volevi….per non parlare del fatto che se tu volessi pagare quei prodotti passano quindici minuti prima che qualcuno possa considerarti/aiutarti nell’acquisto e non parliamo neanche di un ipotetica confezione regalo…. Non discuto la qualità dei prodotti perché è rimasta abbastanza invariata..si mangia discretamente..sono saliti un po’ i prezzi ma c’era da aspettarselo. Il problema resta il fatto che la gestione e l’ambiente fanno proprio perdere la voglia. Peccato..un’altra occasione...

We stumbled into this restaurant when strolling central Lecce and what a find it is! First of all we would love to say a big thank you to Fulvio who speaks perfect English and managed to tell us more about typical Pugliese cuisine than we leaned in 4 previous days!

We ordered burrata with cured meats, tomato bruschetta and tomato frisa (typical Pugliese bread) and seafood pasta. On the photo you can see sea bass baked in salt paired with the best rosé of the region. Luigi butchered the fish masterfully for us.

Highly recommend this restaurant on your stop in Lecce! Will be missing food like...
