The best way to judge a restaurant? Order thae most basic obvious dish. In my case i order tiramisu. A dish almost all Italian restaurants have and all have their own twist but not all get it right. what was more surprising was that finally when i did have it right it was an Irish pub in an little known city of livorno called The bad elf. There are just 2 major elements in tiramisu; The cream and the spunge. Simple right ? Yet not all get it right. First the cream it is best when it's light and fluffy and not heavy at all. After all it is the last course after a every meal. Second is the sponge is supposed to be soft and watery and juicy and they have got both these elements right, the best i have tasted. Finally the big cherry on top was the much heard of the Irish hospitality. Kind, nice, welcoming and friendly staff just makes even lone traveler like me feel at home. A must visit...

We came to watch the rugby, and I will say that the only disappointing thing is that it wasn’t seen as the priority I thought it would be, it wasn’t open for the first game and opened on kickoff for the second, there was a small group of rugby fans there but I can’t help but feel like, in a place like Livorno (with a lot of yacht crew about) opening a bit earlier and making themselves “the place” to watch rugby in Livorno would be brilliant. Otherwise I really like it in there and will be back to try the menu...
Read moreA great place overall, I enjoyed Bad Elf a lot and will return soon. Guinness on draft so of course I love the place! Plenty of other beers, I had a Czech lager that was good. I ate the pulled pork burger and it was good, plenty of fries to go with it and fast service. The staff are very friendly and helpful, clients are all friendly and open, a good atmosphere for sure. Kid-friendly with plenty of space for the prams/strollers and they have baby chairs. Well worth a visit when you are in Livorno, and it's in the restaurant-bar area by the canals so plenty of nearby...
