Mascagni Ristorante Livorno — Restaurant in Livorno

The hotel gives you a welcome cocktail which was nice but the only option was an in house cocktail and it was not really alcoholic, it was all Liqueurs. After this we got 2 Aperol spritz’s and that’s where we determine how good or bad a place is. Not only was it weak but after 3 weeks in Italy I haven’t seen an Aperol Spritz costing over €8 and that was peak tourist city’s, most places €5-€7, this place is €15!!! I would never have paid this if we knew in advanced. That and the low Quality feel of the restaurant is why we cancelled our dinner reservations, this is poor business and I am shocked the hotel allows such low quality but high prices.

Positive: amazing view Negative: waitress was rude and reluctant. We had to go to the bar to ask for the heavily overpriced cocktails (15 Euro for an Aperol Spritz and also 15 Euros for a virgin Mojito). The tables were fully empty. No ambient music. No sign of the staff trying to accomodate you as they should in the bar/restaurant of a 5 star hotel. I have to say that the virgin mojito was pretty good, but it was served in a basic IKEA glass. We went for a 5 star New Years eve dinner expecting great food. It was beyond dreadful. Some of the worst cooking I have had anywhere in the world and definitely the worst I've had in Italy. Shambolic evening with courses put on the table while we were still eating the previous one. Pasta so hard I bounced it on the plate.
