Ristorante O'Belau — Restaurant in Lu Palau/Palau

What has happened was sort of matrix...despite of just a few guests in the restaurants..there was total mess and chaos...In the beginning we ordered drinks,starters and main courses but we were served only main dishes..after we had reminded the staff about our drinks we were provided with coffee and tea only but red wine was long forgotten....when I asked again about the wine,we got white one instead of red...In the meanwhile 2 different waiters arrived with my friend's order which she had already eaten...In the end we asked one of waiters for dessert menu ...she nodded she understood but we had to wait about 20 minutes till another waitress suggested desserts herself.... in the end we just found it funny.. They were trying to save the situation offering two free shots of alcohol ..it was nice way to apologise for all this awkward inconvenience and confusion...Nevertheless looking at the bill we found out we were charged extra for white wine we had not ordered...We had to explain again..For some reason we were serviced by at least 5 waiters ...and only one of them spoke Eglish...the rest was just nodding..Disaster...Anyway...the food quality was amazing... very...

Unfortunately a very bad experience yesterday evening.. I ordered the roasted octopus and I got something just like car tire rubber.. I can’t cut it through so don’t even mention how hard it was to bite on.. so hard that if I tried my best to cut it open it jumped out of my board for 2 times.. we are usually very easy persons so if it was not exaggeratedly bad I would not make a comment, but this is even for me very unpleasant. So I asked whether it was fresh cooked since it was not marked with a star (which means it was deep frozen), the guy told me to my face that it was cooked freshly and just how it should be. Afterwards we were ignored several times with our request to pay and NOT A WORD about anything during paying, just silence. We are fascinated by how they were ignoring the problem, even a ‘sorry for your not perfect experience’ is too much asked. But ok maybe that’s the way they have chosen to handle their clients. But sorry that is for me after sooo many restaurants (we are foodies) the first and the only one...

In fairness we arrived without a reservation after a thunderstorm had passed shortly before. They were very busy with tables that had already been reserved. It a sushi restaurant predominantly with other dishes available. We were seated quite quickly in a room adjacent to the main restaurant. The food was good without being brilliant. The prices were reasonable. We shared panko prawns to start they were very tasty. We waited quite a long time between our first and our main course, I presume because they were so busy but we had to prompt them that we were waiting a long time. My partner had pork belly for the main course which she said was very nice. I had prawn risotto which again was quite nice. All in all not a...
