The worst service I have ever had. We tried to get a table by walking in and asking the waiter and they said they were full (despite the fact that the restaurant was half empty) and didn’t even give us the opportunity to come back later. We made a comment about it with the receptionist at our hotel, who was kind enough to contact the restaurant to see if they would have a table available at a later time. They immediately said yes…. Once we got there and the owner (or one of the older waiters, not sure) realized we were foreigners, he started complaining in Italian and then told us to wait outside, even though there were several tables available. He then proceeded to seat every group of Italian clients before us. When he finally gave us a table, he just threw the menus on the table without saying a word. The food was fine (not amazing, just fine). We ordered a pasta and a pizza and when my friend’s pizza arrived, I had almost finished my pasta. At the end of the meal, while we were paying the check, we realized that the same rude waiter was adding a bunch of stuff to our bill, right in front of us at the counter (our bill was already at 56€ while the correct amount was 43€). This was absurd to the point that another waiter called him off and he changed it to the correct amount… Even after all this, we thanked him for the meal but he didn’t even bother to reply. I live in a country where hospitality is key and I wouldn’t even dream of this happening to anyone visiting Portugal. Also, we understand Italian so next time you think of complaining and cussing in from of us in Italian, think twice 😉 Would give this restaurant a big...
Read moreWish I could comment on the food, but never got past the hostess/owner. As others have pointed out - the service is atrocious and this place doesn’t deserve tourists’ money. Also an FYI - this place has 2€ sitting fee.
Asked to see the menu, which I did get - so far so good. Hostess/owner walked away. Everything normal so far. Now, I had the phone in my hand with Google Maps open...cause you know - being a tourist and all. Suddenly, the hostess came back up to me and started telling me “no photos”... ...Ok...so let’s set aside the fact that I wasn’t taking photos and let’s also get past the truly weird notion where taking photos of restaurants’ menus is somehow a bad thing for the restaurant. The real issue is - YOUR PLAIN TEXT MENU IS NOT THE MONA LISA. Actually, it’s completely fine to photograph the Mona Lisa, which makes this situation even more bizarre. Anyways, after the hostess/owner was done scolding me for the audacity of holding my phone in my hand anywhere near her menu, it was clear that the service wasn’t going to get any better than this. Bye bye, Nettuno. Thank you for saving me my time and money by being so incredibly rude...
