Wonderful food and helpful, generous, engaged staff! If you’re in Matera, try this place. We’ve eaten in restaurants across Europe and the meal we had here is one of the best. The food and atmosphere is not fancy, but rather an example of why one travels: to experience a bit of the culture of the area. The restaurant is located off an inner courtyard near the Palumbaro Lungo with the classic beautiful barrel ceiling, white tablecloths, and nice artwork. And the food? Well, we started with the antipasto platter—grilled vegetables, cheese, meat— and crisp bread from the oven. I had the local pasta with mushrooms, sausage and the local sweet but spicy peppers. Guys, I don’t know why this place has 3.8. It’s a great misunderstanding. Really. The place is amazing. Atmosphere is one of kind. Pure italian style. The food - amazing. The owner (i guess), kind and welcoming. We took three pizzas. All kind of pizzas available on request, so don’t worry if you did not find your fav on the list. Chi ci ha portato per fare una bella figura della propria città e per farci conoscere un posto dove si mangia buona pizza,ci ha ripensato . Come presentazione del locale non è un granché,sia esternamente che interamente,ma anche come il servizio che offrono e la qualità del prodotto servito. Partiamo che appena arrivati abbiamo aspettato all'ingresso senza nessuna accoglienza da parte del personale,che francamente non si capiva se erano operatori o clienti. Il menù è essenziale ma i prezzi pizza a mio parere son troppo eccessivi, una margherita €7 e tutte le altre tipiche nazionali €8 dove le materie prime sono molto semplici ma quello che offri al cliente è un prodotto miseramente condito. Il servizio non è un granché, per un locale dove nel menù mi indichi €2 di coperto per il servizio,mi sarei aspettato molto di più. Il personale non è così preparato,un servizio molto da "porta piatti" come si dice nella ristorazione, e la comanda la dovevamo scrivere anche noi e il servizio al gueridon inadatto. I tempi di attesa esageratamente lunghi senza nessun preavviso (un ora e mezza per avere le pizze) e una titolare un tantino arrogante dove per scusarsi ti dice chiaramente che se vai in una pizzeria è perché hai tempo da perdere,altrimenti scegli un altro posto,inoltre non è colpa sua se il locale dispone di un unico forno e tutti scelgono pizza. Nessun rapporto qualità prezzo adeguato. Nonostante le lamentele per le attese troppo lunghe abbiamo pagato tutto a prezzo pieno ,come se non fosse successo niente. Sarà stato un caso?
