We stopped in later in the evening and we very warmly greeted immediately. A table was made ready, we were well advised on an excellent local wine of the region, and ordered pizza.

Both of the pizzas were outstanding! The Naples pizza was full of big flavor, anchovy heavy, and the Buffalina was full of delicious mozzarella di buffalo (sp?). The real stand out however is the dough, cold fermented for 48 hours, cooked perfectly, puffy and light. I try to make my own dough, and have never got anywhere near this quality.

Service is terrible. Was treated like second class where the waitress would not serve us a dish because a table that sat after us ‘might’ order it and then she upsold it to them. Just thought the nice people of Matera treated people better.

Per the owners reply: my mother was sitting first, she was just being ignored. That’s the issue, your service staff looked at a older lady and didn’t ask her if she needed help, the people arrived and sat after us.
