I saw the owner response to the comments above and i want to add few info, which i am sure he did not receive from his staff. From the moment we entered, first 4 of us, from a total of 12, they were unfrendly and with bad parent behaviour. The told us abt 4 times to lower our voices, although we were not so noisy, there were small talks between us. We wanted to order but they refused us, they said that we have to wait for all to order. We took a bottle of wine and when the rest of us appeared, the staff told us again to be quiet and not in a nice manner, it was like they owned us or we came into their house with shoes on in white and new carpet. After the aopelative " unneducated romanians" we decided to leave and asked for the bill. Only that suprise, we had the " coperta" for 12 people. When i refused to pay coperta and ask to pay only the wine the water, they threatened us they will call the police. I finnaly payed only the nornal bill. So before you start throwing words abt our behaviour you should ask better your staff or maybe change them. Anyway, judging abt how they handled the guests yesterday they look like they were the owners, so maybe they should answer to my comment, don...
Read moreIf you’re in Matera and looking for a break from the usual carb-heavy Italian fare, this vegetarian-friendly restaurant is a must-visit. I was thrilled to discover this place after getting a bit tired of pasta, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise.
The meal started with a couvert of special olive oil and a selection of fresh breads that set the tone for the evening. For the entrée, we were treated to three gourmet specials, each with its unique flair. The highlight for me was the fennel salad, dressed to perfection with a dressing that was simply out of this world. The flavors of all the dishes were distinct and delicious, with a refreshing lack of spiciness, which really allowed the ingredients to shine.
The service was impeccable throughout the meal, enhancing the overall experience. To top it off, we were served gourmet chocolates at the end, a sweet conclusion to a fantastic dining experience.
I highly recommend this restaurant for families with both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The diverse menu and the exceptional quality of the food ensure that everyone will find something to love. Don’t miss out on this special...
Read moreI was keen to try Tierra and see if it would live up to its high ranking. My expectations were well and truly met.
The layout of the restaurant was very nice; passing by the kitchen and descending a flight of stairs into a cave-like seating area which was perfectly lit.
We had the five course tasting menu at €40pp. Each course was a delightful mixture of textures and flavours. The real standout was the lamb chops, so tender and sprinkled with salt which contrasted with the sweetness of the beetroot. The service was excellent and the waiting staff took very good care of us (including our six month old baby - arranging for a high chair and giving him a smile at every opportunity!). A small touch too, but the glassware was novel - ranging from a leaning tower of Pisa style tumbler for the soft drink to a device for pouring the wine (never seen one of those before!).
At the end of the meal we had a free taster of the house panettone and it was delicious. So delicious that we in fact bought one to...
