Service was excellent. Price was pretty good for 40€ 3 course tasting menu per person with a fantastic bottle of house red.
The starter (pasta pictured) was excellent, and the two pastas complimented each other very well. However, the main course was a disappointment. We misunderstood what was being offered on the menu, but trusted that regardless of the menu we chose, it would taste good. Turned out it was very nicely cooked beef on a dry (some cheese but not enough) bread, served with a sweet and sour (Asian style?) sauce (but why??), and a ton of bland tasteless crisps (chips). The crisps made it feel so downmarket.
I also wasn't a fan of the 80s pop music on the background, I thought this place was trying to be traditional but again I was mistaken.
Also disappointing that all three choices of menus featured a slab of beef as the main. I think they could do with more choice.

Read moreI recently visited Al Valentino in Milan, both alone and with my wife. My first visit was notable for the staff's helpfulness in guiding me through the menu. Their dish recommendations were excellent, leading to a very satisfying meal. The welcoming atmosphere was a highlight, making the dining experience personal and enjoyable.
On my second visit with my wife, the quality of the food remained consistently high. The wine suggested by the staff complemented our meal well. The setting of the restaurant provided a comfortable and intimate backdrop for a pleasant evening. It's clear that Al Valentino is a local favourite, distinct from typical tourist spots, which adds to its appeal.
The efforts of the owner and staff at Al Valentino are commendable. They have created a place that offers not just good food, but a genuinely enjoyable dining experience. My thanks to everyone at the restaurant for their hospitality during our...

And although he did t particularly like the side dishes that came with the steak (I think it's an Italian thing), according to him, the steak itself was great. I also enjoyed my pasta which I had as a main course after my tart. The service was great, with very friendly staff who were happy to let us practise our terrible Italian with them, before the restaurant got too...
