We were lucky enough to get a table without a reservation. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. As it was our first time in a restaurant with Sri Lankan cuisine, he asked us how spicy we eat and what our preferences are (meat, vegan, etc.). We put together a colourful mix of starters and relied fully on the recommendation here. We had a deep-fried dumpling filled with vegetables and an egg. Damn tasty. As a recommendation, we ordered vegetarian noodle and chicken kottu. There were also several Sri Lankan beers, each described in detail regarding taste, brewing method and alcohol content. As a bonus, there was a small bowl of lentil curry. A poem. For dessert, we had a very tasty coconut ice cream with cashew nuts and a pudding. Both very good. At the end of the evening, one had the warm-hearted feeling of having visited good friends and been cooked for by family. Thank...
Read moreThis is a great way to enjoy your evening if you're missing the sub continent 😀 Interestingly we chanced upon this while walking around a neighborhood in Milan on our third day of a trip , a Halloween weekend in October. Sri Lankan local cuisine, un-bashed and un-filtered. It's primarily for the diaspora in Italy so they have to get an authentic flavor. It also is popular among the local Italians we noticed many families come in and also collect takeaways. The pricing is moderate when compared to probably similar Indian restaurants , and much more affordable than local Italian restaurants. The staff are kind , they adhere to requests we even got them to play one of our favorite Sinhalese Yohani music tracks. We had rice and chicken curry, beef kottu and watalappam as dessert which is basically a 🍮 pudding. Worth a visit if you're in the...
Read moreAnother new experience, but again, a very limited menu. Prepare for hot dishes. My companion wouldn't go again, I'm on the fence. I enjoyed the meal, I have to say. It was all unusual food and very tasty. Service was quick too. But it just wasn't that much of an event. I felt like I was in a cafe. Staff weren't that friendly, but they were prompt. A lot of the chicken was on the bone so portions were relatively small. For 41 euros (2 main dishes with water and 1 dessert,) I did expect more value for money, considering it isn't really a restaurant and more like a...
