We arrived to Milano late afternoon on a very rainy, windy day and needed to have dinner. My husband searched for a bunch of upscale places but they were mostly booked. I'm a huge raw fish lover (my husband is a meat lover). He serendipitously stumbled upon Batey Cevicheria, which was literally around the corner. And oh what luck! We figured we would just go there, order food and bring it back to our place to eat. We ended up eating in and it was WONDERFUL! I have eaten ceviche in Panama, Peru, Argentina, all over the US and it was equally as delectable. We ordered the anticucho, not expecting much, but Sergio, the brilliant chef, produced skewers of beef, pulpo and shrimp, with a small potato attached to each. The creamy, small potatoes simply melted with barely a bite. The beef was equally as tender as was the shrimp and octopus. Often octopus ends up being a rubbery mess but not here. The sauce that was served with the beef skewer was so good that we asked for it to be served with my husband's meal, the roast beef picanha. It was spectacularly flavorful and as I said to Sergio, I could have easily slurped up an entire bowl of it. I had the classic ceviche in leche de tigre. The branzino Sergio used was perfectly sliced and tender and the leche de tigre perfectly balanced. Daniel, the host, server and overall "operations chief" last night, was so attentive without being intrusive, made wonderful suggestions and served us our food within a perfectly appropriate amount of time -- no delays and not rushed either. I give both Daniel and Sergio highest marks on all counts, as well as the restaurant! Thank you...
Read moreThis is a small restaurant with a few tables but packs a big punch. On this occassion we were waited on by David who was very warm and attentive.
We tried two of their cocktails, one a pisco sour and other made with mezcal, both were alcohol forward and just perfect for what we expected.
Their appetizer a trio of beef, prawn and octopus grilled and coated with mild spices and served with chimichuri sauce was good but their roasted peppers were a miss.
We tried two of their ceviches and both were brilliant - oozing with flavour.
The pisco touched mango sorbet and rum touched tiramisu for desserts were both plain delicious.
We loved the ambience of the restaurant - very warm yet fun - perfect for a fun date night.
Highly recommend them for very good...
Read moreI wanted to love this place: good reviews, great atmosphere (the small balcony on the back is so cozy) and great table service… an yet I couldn’t really appreciate the food: I’ve been in Peru, I love ceviche in many styles, but it here I couldn’t recognize it: it lacked spice 🌶️ and lime 🍋🟩 flavour 😕. We asked for some rocoto and they promptly offered some to add, and it was much better Camarones were nothing like those I’ve tried in Arequipa, not even a sauce decorate or to accompany them on the plate. I’m sorry but this place has a great Peruvian vibe…. It not the taste. I hope it improves soon so I can give it...
