Finally I feel compelled enough to write a review again. What an experience this was... Before I start I want to apologise for my English skills as it is not my native tongue. As the sun began to set and my stomach began to rumble, I realised I was in dire need of a place to eat. As if guided by fate I wound up at this wonderful establishment specialised in the authentic Italian cuisine. Upon request I was seated a table al fresco. Rather quickly I was served by a kind young gentleman, and soon was struck by choice paralysis as I was offered three menus consisting of a fine selection of regional dishes. After several minutes I decided to go for the spaghetti alla vognole and a free (yes, free!) bottle of water, cold and dewy, complementing the pastoral surroundings found myself in. I must have been daydreaming, because dinner was served in the blink of an eye, and it couldn't have been better. To my suprise the head chef came outside to serve my food, and with a friendly smile, wished me a good appetite... Dio mio... A good appetite it was. I do employ you, dear reader, to go experience this yourself, as the complex world of flavours I experienced during this moment is simply indescribable. As if accompanying Vergil on my journey to Beatrice I was enlightened, and in that exact moment, experienced true, unconditional love, coated in garlic infused EVOo. Having emptied my plate, I came back down to earth and was offered one more chance at bliss with a caffĂš corretto. While I was convinced this was the perfect end to my evening, and being ready to give a rather sizeable tip, dear reader, the restroom must've been the most ingenious place I have visited during my time on earth. Without giving too much away, the careful consideration the owner made in designing this water closet is the cherry on top of this already wonderful experience. With the utmost gratitude, I doff my cap to the owner for hosting an experience like no other (and thus, a true Megik Land), creating the highlight for my trip to Milan, and possibly, my...
Read moreWe came with friends for lunch, lured by good reviews. It was one of the few restaurants in the area that was open during the day. The restaurant had one person (chef/owner?), There was no music and it looked like they weren't ready for customers. However, when we asked if they were open, we were offered a seat. It turned out that pizza was only sold by the slice and there was no tiramisu (in the middle of the day?). We ended up ordering pasta but it was just edible and definitely not 5 stars. The dishes are dirty. It seemed like the owner didn't want to work that day, but the desire to get money from 6 hungry tourists was stronger than principles. But why open if you're not ready to work? And the unwillingness to admit one's wrongness in reviews only increases the desire to give him a bad rating. I do...
Read moreThis was my very first day in Italy and I couldnât have asked for a better start. I ordered a cappuccino, water, and a platter of sliced meats with bread, everything was fresh and delicious, and the coffee was amazing.
The service was even better than the food. My waitress was incredibly kind and friendly. I didnât get the courage to try speaking Italian yet, but she made me feel comfortable the whole time. Her warmth really stood out and made the experience special.
Overall, wonderful food, excellent coffee, and the kind of service that makes you feel at home....
