Good schnitzel, fast service, great beers - it was good, cheap and basic - takes credit card and also have English translations on the menu - perfect for my needs! The decor feels a bit bright and crowded, reminiscent of a school dining hall. Wifi worked fine - waiter had me connected quickly; the waiters were quite speedy, bringing me bread and oils to the table almost upon arrival (and refilling the bread basket when it got empty). I ordered a Cotoletta: a Pork schnitzel - it came with chips but was a bit bare otherwise... it needed some veg or a gravy as it felt a bit dry. The beers were good, nice and strong (the light beer 5.5% and 7% for the dark one, a Bock) - definitely had a great sleep after that. For tourists: don't forget that most places in Italy carry a service charge; for this place it was €2. Something rare for this size of place is the number of waiters: 7 or so, all circulating the floor, ready to hop in for service. They certainly don't keep you waiting! I returned 6 months later and was greeted by a doorman handing out mini pizza samples, who then showed me in and handed me off to a waiter. Table service is fast and efficient - I've amended my review and granted them another star! This time I had a fish dish, baked sea bass with salad and tomatoes, a delicious fresh fish. Oh, and the bock beer, of course!

I recently dined at Osteria Italiana in Milan and was left deeply disappointed, prompting me to advise caution to potential visitors. My experience began on a sour note with a half-liter of Merlot that was opened at the table. Unfortunately, the wine tasted more like vinegar than a quality Merlot. Despite my complaints, the owner insisted it was fine, refusing to taste it himself. Reluctantly, I switched to a different wine, which was passable. Moving on to the food, the carpaccio I ordered for €15 was a letdown. Not only was it dry, but the edges were visibly oxidized, lacking the freshness and vibrant flavors one expects from authentic Italian cuisine. The “Tagliata di vitello”, priced at €28, was equally underwhelming. Described on the menu as a lamb fillet, it lacked any discernible flavor, further adding to my frustration. Overall, my visit to Osteria Italiana felt like a classic tourist trap, with premium prices not matched by the quality of food or service. While I can’t speak for the pizzas, based on my experience, I would strongly recommend against ordering fish or meat dishes. Please consider this review a friendly warning to those looking to enjoy genuine Italian dining in Milan.

OK. This is another of the reviews where there is really nothing wrong with the restaurant, but there is really nothing special either. We are staying two blocks from Milano Centrale. We are trying to avoid touristy places and restaurants that are non authentic. We had the Bruschetta with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil as an appetizer. Perfect taste perfect execution. We had two pastas for Primi: the spaghetti carbonara and the tagliatelle bolognese. Both we just ok. We have had better in Italy. Bacon on the carbonara and the sauce tasted a bit watery. It lacked that cheesy pop we love about the dishes. The bolognese was harder for me to pin down what was off. I think it could have used a bit more meat and the consistency of the sauce just didn't seem right. The service was spotty too. Started out great, and then our server disappeared. Needed more wine, water and I thought they went to Sicily for my espresso. I will say the pizzas coming out all around us looked awesome. If we return on a future trip, I would try that. Almost forgot, the grilled vegetables were perfect, and complementary Limoncello at the end was very nice. Again, nothing bad, just an average experience.

My wife and I visit Milano regularly (4-5 times a year) and we usually stay in Milan for 5 nights.  However, we have not been able to find the best Italian restaurant in Milan until the end of 2024.  Very fortunately, we finally did it!!  We found out the best Italian (including Milaniese) restaurant in Milan when we visited Milan at the end of January 2025.  It is OSTERIA ITALIANO.  We visited this restaurant on 29 January 2025 for the first time.  Since then, we have enjoyed Italian at the Osteria Italian 5 nights in a row (every night from 29th January 2025 until 2nd February 2025).  And, my wife and I have already decided that we will enjoy our favorite Italian (including Milanese) ONLY at the OSTERIA ITALIANO every time we visit Milan. The reason is simple - it is the BEST in town - Pizzas: the BEST, Pastas: the BEST and Milanese specialties such as Ossobuco with Milanese Risotto & Cotoletta: the Best. Before you ask me how BEST, visit the Osteria Italiano and try every cuisine.  You will be a fan of Osteroa Italiano. Furthermore, two servers. Rumen (head) and Bellale always provide us with wonderful, outstanding and exceptional hospitality, service and help for each table (Of course, all other servers are wonderful as well).  Also, they are willing to help each guest so that he/she enjoys each dish 100% satisfactory.  So, this restaurant can be your dining room in Milan! Once you get to know each server, especially, Rumen and Bellale, your happiness will enhance.  They convey your preference (for example, Al Dente for Pasta) for each order to the kitchen perfectly.  And the kitchen completely and perfectly follows such preference from each guest.  So. ever cuisine becomes the best. Thank you, Rumen and Bellale for your hospitality.  The restaurant manager, Nikola is also nice, kind and warm-hearted person. We feel this restaurant has a mood of family. Try to visit the Osteria Italiano and make your days in Milan happier! We will be back to Milan in the middle of April for 5 nights and of course will enjoy the best Italian  & Milaniese at the Osteria Italian for 5 dinners in a row (every night during our stay). Simply because THE BEST! Thank you. ...

Went there few weeks ago with a friend. We were told the kitchen will be opened in 15 minutes so we ordered some drinks. While we were ordering the drinks we asked if we can order the food ahead of time so that they can work on it as soon as kitchen is opened and were turned down for that option and just told us to wait on it. I asked again when we were served our drinks again and were givven the reply to just wait. Strangely by the time we got our drinks other tables were given bread and another table behind us got their pizza already. By this time we were late for our train so we went to the counter and explained the situation and asked them to bill us on the drinks because we were now running late and didnt have time for food. They apologized for their mistakes but I dont understand how one tables were given bread soon as they were seated (we didn't even get bread) and another table that came after our table got their food 2 minutes after our drinks were served when we've asked 3 times by then if we can order food. On top of that they charged us 5euro for table charge "coperto" and we had to go back to counter and tell them that it's not fair that we were charged for this since our table was neglected and wasn't even served bread to begin with. Well at least they apologized for ruining & wasting our dining experience but having the nerve to charge table tip on such service is unacceptable. In the end they made it up by returning the "table charge" that never existed but I highly recommend skipping this place, they ruined my last day in Milan with bad service + wrong charges even when I asked 3 times within that hour just shows they just dont care & have no idea how to run...

This place is incredible. The food is great but what makes it are the waiters! Mohamed and Andrea made mine and my friends holiday. We were staying in an airbnb above and I arrived too early for check in. Although they weren't technically open, Andrea let me sit down gave me a free glass of wine and snacks and made me feel so comfortable (something very rare as a young solo female traveller at times). For my birthday we went for dinner and the food was incredible but what made it was that when they heard it was my birthday they bought out a bottle of free prosecco and tiramisu with a sparkler in and sang me happy birthday! We came back the night after and i had sadly broken my phone. Andrea let me use his phone to get in contact with my family! We then lost the keys to our apartment (I know i sound like a terrible traveller). Mohamed and Andrea stayed with me and my friend helping us, even after the restaurant was shut, not allowing us to be alone whilst we were trying to sort everything out! The next day they let me stay in the restaurant for the day, and even took me to a phone repair shop! I can't thank Andrea and Mohamed enough for making my stay in Milan amazing my birthday incredible and for making me feel safe and welcome! I can't wait to be able to come back and visit and bring all my friends and family. P.s they definitely deserve...
