The WORST experience in Italy after over 20 trips and visits across the country. THEY HATE FOREIGN TOURISTS! They had placed a fancy gold cake on a set of stairs on a piece of wood on top of a ceramic pot. After waiting 15 minutes for a gelato, the man stopped halfway through to serve someone else. By the time he came back to scoop the final 2 gelatos in our order the first two had started to melt. He didn’t want to give us cups and spoons so we had to wait longer. BUT as we started to walk down the stairs, my 5 year old barely bushed against a wood plank that was sticking out the stairs - a fancy gold cake was propped on top of a wood plank, on a ceramic pot, on the edge of a stair case. The cake fell, and a half dozen people came running, not the check on my children who had broken ceramics stuck in his hand, but no, for a stupid cake. They then made us stay there, while my 3 and 5 year old were upset and shocked. THEY DIDN’T CARE ABOUT CHILDREN, ONLY THEIR STUPID CAKE. We had to wait 15 minutes to be served gelato, then had to wait 5 mins for spoons, but they ran instantly for their precious cake. Even when we ordered cakes, macaroons, and gelato - not a single smile or kind word. In all my years vacationing around the world I have never had worse service. The only saving grace was a kind woman at the front cash who actually inquired after the fact about my frightened 3 year old who had broken ceramic in his hand. She was the only one who was polite or smiled the entire time. Guess what, IF YOU HATE FOREIGN TOURISTS your entire economy in this tiny vacation towns would collapse. WHAT A DISASTER AND AN UTTER...
Read moreOne of the best experiences I had in the Amalfi coast. The expectations were way higher for the whole region while nothing seemed to go my way (rainy in the middle of August; I lost my passport in Maiori etc.). However, I really thank God that we decided to stop and tasted these flavors. We both had lunch and dessert. I will skip lunch even though it was quite decent. The epitome of how Italian desserts should look and taste. We first tried the Delizia al limone which is like the signature plate (?) One of the most delicate and heavenly lemon flavors you will ever get. We were so excited that we asked to get another one; this time a different flavor (still with lemon) and it was once again delicious.
Definitely the second-best sweet taste I have ever tried in my whole life. I set the bar too high since I have tried the pina colada dessert in café de Paris in Budapest. As a result, it’s not too fair for this Pasticceria. You should definitely pay them a visit if you are close to the area. They worth it 100% even if you have to drive a few extra miles. They are open almost all day long, unlike most Italian restaurants; however, this is a Pasticceria and that’s why it is open in the afternoon.
PS: I was shocked by how good the waitress communicated with us in English. One of the very very few people in South Italy that they speak English so fluently. Unfortunately, most them can’t even say a...
Read moreSal De Riso IS Minori. Minori IS Sal De Riso. Not to be confused with the one by the church. Sal is loved by all, he single handed put Minori on the map. The merchants have great regards and gratitude for Sal. He is also a humanitarian and looks after the well-being of the Minoresi. I patronized the business alone and with company over the past few months. Wonderful, magical place. Great, friendly service, all the staff is super, genuinely professional and nice. One exception that should be corrected, a mature cashier lady, she does not represent the vibes of the place, not very happy to be there, therefore not good PR for the place. To mention a few names I remember - Martino, his brother, Luca and the rest, exceptional work ethics. The products remind me of French bakery in looks and in flavor. The products are a delight to the eyes, however, too sweet, seemed to buttery, but —-De gustibus non est disputandum— my favored is Mimosa, the pastries are bit costly for the Amalfi Coast, even compared to Paris and NY. Six, 6, euro-take away or eating standing. The price for the pastries, in the long beautiful show case is 6euro per piece; 3 euro above the historical-traditional pastry shop in Amalfi , Pansa. You can also find some of Sal De Riso ‘ s pastries at Fiumicino airport on the upper floor in the section Eataly for 7 euro per piece. An experience...
