If you look for rude overworked waitress that will never actually bring you anything you ask and burned pizza, by all means. Come and give it a try.
Reply to the owner message. I may have exploded after an entire evening of bad service, and I apologised to your staff for raising my voice, (even if they did not apologise for ignoring me an entire evening) but your unprofessional behaviour was too much to ignore. I came inside to pay and after I got mad of being charged for a water that was never even brought to us I told you what happened and I got the pizzas taken off the bill. (thing you offered and I did not request). The burned pizza missing from the plate was fed to the dog of the table next to us for your information. And the half eaten was shared by the 2 of us because we were quite hungry and didn't want to waste that too even if the flavour was quite bad (asked for salt and chilly countless of times and no one ever brought it over) And I Did not mention anything about prices or cost. I talked about the staff and terrible food that was served to us. Oh and about the language. The AUDACITY of being BILINGUAL. (not that I own you an explanation but I find writing in English easier that in Italian) You should have asked the 2 table of English speakers next to us if my capability of speaking English was a problem. People I helped with your menu since is not in English. And your waitress ignored telling them to look at the pictures and not offering any other explanation. And I did not comment on the rest of your business on how you could be open (as the only restaurant in the entire city open this week must have been very difficult to be busy). You could have taken my criticism and tried to be better, asking in what went wrong and how to improve it. Instead you just play defence. People who knows that they have nothing to hide don't...
Read moreGood atmosphere, subpar food, good-ish staff except that very blonde gentleman who goes out of his way to feel us unwelcome. We had no reservation but it was relatively early for dinner and we sat down inside without a problem. It was our first hours in Modena and we just wanted to eat something before going back to hotel. They had online menu which is fine, so does everywhere since covid. When we asked for Wi-Fi password to look at the menu the blonde waiter -I’m not exaggerating- rolled his eyes and huffed and puffed and instead of simply telling us the password or writing it on a piece of paper; brought that thing like a tablet that waiters use I guess for us to look at the menu. And since it was probably the menu for online delivery or take-out or something, it wasn’t in English. We ordered the basic things we understood. I almost apologized to him for not having a phone plan that includes roaming. My Italian friends who read this; is it taboo or something in Italy to ask for a Wi-Fi password?
It may sound like a small thing but his attitude definitely ruined the experience for us. And if we weren’t exhausted from the plane and train rides, we would’ve definitely left. We just didn’t want to find another place since we were very tired.
After spending a few days in Modena, I would say you can find much, much better restaurants with much, much better food. With old school menus ;) and...
Read moreWas not expecting to have such a perfect evening in Modena. This big place was the busiest in town on a quiet Tuesday and full of Italians. The place was charming and modern, not always two words you find together. The ceiling was covered in copper pots and dangling plants (all real) and the window table had 4 crates of morels drying. They brought us gnocco Frito with mortadela. Gnocco being soft light pillowy fried bread and delicious. We ordered Aperol spritz (great) and a sharing copper platter of ham, toast and fried artichokes with stratiatella cheese. Fresh and delicious. We had chosen this place for the fresh pasta and shared pasatelli (worm like soft pasta made with breadcrumbs, parmesan, egg and flour) served with crispy Guanciale bacon and onions. The tortellini were cute as hell and in a delicious parmesan cream, truly delicious. Our waitress was amazing, she helped is navigate the menu, brought us a salad, another free snack of Tigelle (local bread) with their best ham and even a mini mascarpone and local chocolate cake dessert because we were too full. She helped us pick a lambrusco, which was also superb and we bought a bottle to take home too. Could not have been a better meal or evening. Thank you...
