Trattoria Del Giardinetto — Restaurant in Modena

We went to Trattoria del Giardinetto with a group of friends, and I have to say—it was a really nice surprise. I hadn’t been there in a while and this was my first time trying it under the new management. I was genuinely impressed.

The food was excellent. I had some tortelloni with butter and sage and some tagliatelle al ragù—both absolutely delicious. We also shared a few second courses, like guanciale and costolette, which were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Later we moved on to gnocco and tigelle with a mix of cold cuts, and again, everything was spot on. Great quality, really tasty.

The service was simple but warm, friendly, and super quick—whenever we needed something, they brought it right away. The atmosphere is very cozy and classic, exactly what you expect from a traditional Modenese trattoria. The decor matches the vibe—homey and rooted in local tradition, which really adds to the experience.

Prices were honest too. Not cheap, not overpriced—just fair for the quality of food and service.

The only thing I’d point out is the acoustics. It gets very noisy, and after a couple of hours you do feel it—some sound-absorbing elements could really help make it more comfortable.

That said, overall it was a lovely evening. Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and definitely a place I’d be happy...

Una bella serata rovinata dalla meschinità del titolare. Comincio dalla fine. Il conto non corrispondeva a quello che avevamo ordinato. In particolare, secondo il menù del ristorante era possibile ordinare fra le varie cose Gnocco e tigelle "completo" a 15€ o un piatto comprendente un bis di primi e gnocco e tigelle "completo" a 22€. Fra le altre cose, noi abbiamo ordinato tre di questi piatti da 22€. Il titolare si è però preso la libertà di fatturarli come tre bis di primi a 12€ l'uno e tre "completi" a 15€ l'uno: in pratica, 81€ invece dei 66€ che avremmo dovuto pagare per quei tre piatti secondo il menù. Glielo abbiamo fatto presente è lui ci ha risposto che il costo di 22€ riportato sul menù per il piatto combinato è valido solo se tutto il tavolo (!!!) ordina quel piatto. Quando gli abbiamo fatto notare che sul menù non c'è scritto niente in proposito e che il cameriere non ci aveva detto niente, il titolare non ha trovato niente di meglio da dire che frasi del tipo "Se non volete spendere rimanete in casa" e "Volevate mangiare in 8 spendendo per tre?". Per non tirarla per le lunghe abbiamo pagato quanto richiesto e siamo andati via, cosa di cui mi sono pentito perchè, ripensandoci, siamo stati vittime di una truffa bella e buona.
