Trattoria L'Arco — Restaurant in Modica

Overcharged us coperto, most likely because we are not locals.

So this is my 5th time in Sicily and I always look for local restaurants everywhere I go(not just Sicily). The prices at Trattoria L'Arco are really fair but also do not expect huge portions. They are rather small but sincerely fair for the price wise. They cook basic home food which is what I have expected from a local place. The let down was that when we paid no receipt was provided and as we walked out we noticed the total was high so walked back in to ask for receipt. The senior lady(probably the owner) instantly wrote "23EUR x2" but we asked for detailed receipt. Only then she printed one. Coperto for 2 persons was 6EUR...the highest we have paid in all of Sicily. 6EUR did not break our bank of course but clearly because we are not locals she found it fair to take advantage. Even a bottle of local Aranciata here they charged us EUR2.50 per bottle....a joke right? Take a look at the attached receipt. I sure hope she puts such money to good use with their staff as they were quite nice to us.

Feel free to look at my other Google Reviews to understand that I am an avid traveler and don't generally complain on anything, I actually don't like writing such reviews, but I do work hard to earn and do my best to enjoy this world we live in. Unfortunately, I won't return as I did not leave with...

Comincio dalla nota più negativa che non ci farà tornare mai più qui, malgrado il buon cibo.

Cameriere cafone e che risponde "sono da solo, con calma porto tutto" e intanto 3 volte che gli chiediamo l'acqua e 5 volte il calice del vino, ribadito da 3 persone diverse e a distanza anche di tempo, eravamo già ai secondi alla quarta volta. Non glielo abbiamo più richiesto, anche se a mio parere c'era da alzarsi e andare a prenderselo di persona, ma eravamo in compagnia e non volevamo fare "figure". A fine serata non ce l'ha portato. Per di più è arrivato tutto di corsa e con la camicia sbottonata, uno schifo, professionalità zero.

Il sale e il pepe e l'olio, che di norma a prescindere dovrebbero essere sul tavolo, mancavano. Al massimo dovevano essere portati con gli antipasti, invece ai secondi abbiamo dovuto chiederli.

Il cibo che ho mangiato io era veramente buono, ho preso dei Lollini fatti in casa perfettamente al dente con del pesto di pistacchio veramente delizioso. Mia madre ha preso delle linguine al nero di seppia ed erano un po' scondite, mio padre degli spaghetti alle vongole che non sapevano di nulla e la pasta era cruda. Il macco di fave un po' liquidino e discreto. Poi ho assaggiato il bollito, molto buono. Arancini mignon molto croccanti (e saporiti) come non ne mangiavo da anni. Bagni molto grandi e molto puliti. Molti complimenti per questo.

La stoccata finale è stato il conto, non che fosse salato ma santo cielo, un quarto d'ora prima che ce lo portasse. E anche quello abbiamo dovuto chiederlo due volte. "Ora arriva la signora" e intanto aspettiamo.

Ora, come di evince dalle mie altre recensioni, non sono un frequentatore di ristoranti stellati abituato a chissà quali cotture, anzi personalmente prediligo le trattorie per porzioni abbondanti e cottura giusta come dovrebbe essere, nonché un prezzo giusto al quantitativo nel piatto. Però essere trattati così da un cameriere cafone e smemorato e con dei piatti dalla cottura altalenante, francamente anche no.

We went to this restaurant as we were walking by. Food in very small portions , zuppa was filled half way we asked them to fill it up and they charged us extra to fill up our soup plate. Our bean soup was filled less than half when it was given to us .. 6 euro for a very small portion then they charge extra without telling us just to add 2 more scoops. Seafood pasta was okay very basic .. overall they charge extra without telling you first everything. And copperto 3 euro each person ? Way overpriced .....
