this is a great place to have a casual dinner. after being served some unknown morsels of crispy, fat deliciousness as a starter on the house, i received the freshest mussels i ever ate in my life, no kidding. and i have been to britanny! but these mussels were almost still alive, so good! before my arrival at the restaurant i had read that the pizza here was supposedly "big crust" - which i hate. so i just asked for my pizza to have a small crust - nicely, of course - and voila, i did get it! goes to show, it never hurts to ask ... after my dinner, i also asked one of the waiters to recommend a good place to have a beer, and he told me of a really great biereria as well, that was a nice touch in the end. grazie mille! and in case you now want to know which place that was you'll just have to ask one of their friendly waiters ...

We ate here for lunch, we were sat right away without reservations. The food was good, but it is pretty pricey. We ordered an appetizer for 2 that included a bunch of different small seafood plates, they were very good. As the main dish I ordered a fried fish and my husband had the grilled octopus. Both plates were good, but nothing that just blew us away. I definitely liked the appetizer more. They have seating indoors and outdoors. The inside used to be a church and has super high nice ceilings very cool to look at.

Summary: Food is ok, the terrasse is cute, the service was bad for us. We enjoyed the restaurant but the restaurant was struggling with the service and overal we left with not a great feeling. I would not recommend. Food: The food was good but not amazing. I would say you go there more for the atmosphere. Bad Service: We had to ask 4 different waiters to get our orders and they all said "it's not me it's another waiter" but without calling after the "correct" waiter. We kept asking if they could ask the right one to come but with no luck. When we ordered water I asked my glass to have ice cubes. I had to ask more than 5 times. The glass arrived after the main. The waiter kept coming and saying "yes your glass" but this like 10 times without bringing it. There was also this funny moment where the waiters would cross your eyes with you and then quickly turn the gaze because he didn't want to acknowledge we want to order something else. This happened us for dessert where we had to wait 15min because they always ignored us but doing it in a non discrete way (looking at us and then quickly looking away like they didn't see us waiving. It was comical) Terrible experience with one waiter: Finally we had one very bad experience with a waiter. My friend ordered a salada mixta and he brought a salada del mare. And he didn't want to take it back because we "touched it" (which means my friend removed the top to see what was in the bottom as it didn't look like a salada mixta. She asked the guy "is this a salada mixta because it doesn't look" and the guy start making a scene that we ordered salada del mare and that we he thought he was stupid because he knew what we ordered. A discussion of 10min. It was very akward. And once he finally came back with the salad that we actually ordered he started again the discussion.

There is one positive thing in this restaurant, in my opinion - the food. It was really tasty and very well cooked but that is all. Certainly, this is one of the most important things but if you are unable to understand what the waiters are talking about or even order what you wish for it is kind of silly. The waiters didn’t speak English. They knew a few words and their answer to pretty much everything was “see the barcode for English menu”. From my perspective this is inadmissible for a restaurant like this. Unfortunately, not everyone speaks Italian and neither do I.

We had a very good, albeit not outstanding meal here. The location and ambiance are fantastic. The entrecôte steak was flavorful but thin. The fried fish was priced by the gram, and very expensive for a normal sized portion. The pasta with cheese and pepper was very flavorful but some might say a bit salty, and it came out well after the other entrees were served. Great oysters. So, we liked it alot, but it was not our best meal experience in Monopoli. VictorB

Worst experience on our Italian trip unfortunately. My husband and I visited for a dessert and espresso tonight. We ordered 1 Catalan cream and 1 panna cotta. We got 2 catalan cream desserts and no panna cotta. They were both disgusting and tasted of fish, weirdly. We didn't eat them, asked for the bill, waiters didn't even care to ask why we didn't eat them and charged us €25. The most expensive 2 espressos we've ever bought! We will not be returning!
