A sandwich shop that makes fresh sandwiches in front of you with fresh ingredients in an area with a high footfall of tourists, all for a reasonable price does not exiiiiiii…. Wait a minute…
This has to be one of the best options in the area for exactly that! The two of us deliberated over the menu, which is in English as well as Italian, for some time! We ended up deciding to go for a number 4 and a number five, cuatro & cinco. I had the number 5 and it was amazing! I managed to order in Italian which was easy and straight forwards. You make the order inside the shop, at the till and pay there, cash or card was accepted and then you go back outside and almost around the corner to the serving hatch to collect your sandwiches, you can see them being cooked through the windows there. The fun starts when you realise that you need to know what number is on your receipt as that’s your order number that they shout out when it’s ready… it’ll you’re not that fluent in Italian, like myself… Luckily, the area has good phone signal and I did a quick google translate so I could listen to the pronunciation of it and then know what to listen out for my number when it was called, which was ‘A43’, this was really easy, I heard my number and collected my sandwiches with no issues at all, the guy was really friendly as he handed me them and offered serviettes etc. There are a small number of high stools outside that you can sit on and eat there if you wanted to, of course you can take them away and eat wandering the streets. I stood and ate mine right there and then! It was amazing, so tasty, so fresh, everything you want it to be and more… all for €5..! There were a selection of drinks in a fridge as well as cups of small balls of mozzarella available. This was on my list to visit prior to coming back to Naples and now I’ve been I think I’d be making a visit when I...
Read moreVery small and easy to miss. Ten steps away from the Maradona mural, Mañatella is kind of hidden in the corner. We were there in the morning, around 9:30, and we were informed that it would take a few minutes to heat it all up. There are no vegetarian options on the menu outside, but you can just tell the kind man behind the corner what he suggests, and you can pick and choose the ingredients; he even let me try a few of them -super nice! We sat outside and waited a couple of minutes. The sandwiches were mind-blowing. Literally the best bread I've tasted in Italy. Super cheap, super tasty, super nice experience. He even recommended a place nearby for great coffee. I love my friend who discovered this place because it was SO WORTH IT! I...
Read moreThese sandwiches are delicious! We ordered a number two and a number 4, both were so fresh and tasty. Sandwiches are made right in front of you with great ingredients and then passed through a window.. mortadella was the best my husband has tried so far on our Italy trip. If you are in the vicinity make sure to stop here, right next to Murals of Maradonna. Perfect for a hearty brunch to keep you satisfied while exploring the streets of the Spanish Quarters. We will stop by again on our last day before leaving Napoli....
