This could've been really cool. It was a good length of time and started out very informative and interesting. About halfway through, the guide started being odd, considering himself primarily a stand-up comedian, and espousing anti-fascist political rhetoric, including mocking the religious heritage of Italians (meant to be self-deprecating but just impious) and slandering an old noble family (whom he couldn't name), as if he is a French revolutionary or Bolshevik. He also started telling fake stories, like local lore, and kept talking about ghosts. I asked whether we were on a history tour or a ghost story tour. The MAIN problem though is that there was NO DISCLAIMER about the EXTREMELY tight tunnels and pathways we were led through. Anyone with certain mobility issues or physical limitations, or who isn't small and/or agile, could very easily struggle, get hurt and/or panic. My low-functioning ASD brother is perfectly healthy physically but it was extraordinarily difficult for my parents to maneuver him through successfully and without injury. I was quite concerned at a couple points, imagining to myself what the worst case scenario and best solution could be. I appreciate that places overseas are less paranoid about lawsuits, but this company is begging for one. They need informed consent waivers at the very least because something very bad and preventable is bound to happen...
Read moreWe were fortunate to have Maya as our tour guide for our afternoon English tour. She was so witty, entertaining, and easy to understand! Exploring the underground tunnels was the highlight of our Naples trip, and I strongly encourage everyone to give it a try if they can only spend one day in Naples!
However, we are docking one star because getting inside for the tour was so ridiculous. We felt cheated by their online booking system. There was an older gentleman giving lineup instructions to the public and he said we can go right in and skip the line if we buy the ticket online, so we did that. When we went directly to the front of the line to show the staff our online ticket, they refused to even look at it and sternly told us to go to the back of the line even if we bought online. The tickets we bought online cost more than the in-person tickets, so we wasted money. Many people around us bought their tickets online like us and they were just as confused as us.
Tip: Do not buy online tickets! Ignore the “skip-the-queue” tickets because those don’t give you any priority. They will accept payment at the door when they start letting in all the...
Read moreHonestly from all the great reviews, I ended up feeling disappointed by this tour. I have to start out by saying that our guide, Grazia, was fantastic and did the best she could with corralling such a huge group. She was clearly very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and had us laughing quite a few times. That being said, the huge group sort of ruined the whole experience for us. Because there were about 40 people, some of whom were talking while the guide was explaining things, we couldn’t hear half of what she was saying. The size of the group also made it difficult to ask questions or for clarification. Smaller groups just allow the guide to go more in depth and for visitors to really get to know the area. At the end of the tour, we left with more questions than answers. Again, the guide was fantastic but I really think the company is selling her short by selling so many tickets for the tour. I get that it’s the high season right now, but it would be nice if they had more tours throughout the day with fewer people. I heard that there are more authentic underground spots to see, so I would recommend doing your research beforehand and choosing...
