I’m a meat lover, but if it comes to fish, I’m even more picky. Very good fish restaurants in Naples are not rare, but to find fish restaurants which are really outstanding is a challenge. Osteria Da Antonio is one of them. The owner greets the guests personally, in a very warm-hearted manner, like family. The fresh food is visible in the fridge. Everything looks clean, fresh, and is well presented. The vegetable soup was very rich & absolutely delicious. We had a pasta dish with shell fish. The pasta was perfectly cooked “al dente” and the shellfish so fresh that it was tender as butter and sweet. Unfortunately it is rare to find this kind of quality in the US. The fish and sea food was so tasty that I was melting. I was a little bit worried about the taste of the swordfish, because I have had excellent, and also terrible swordfish in my life. But even the Swordfish on my mixed grilled platter was really phenomenal. The food comes relatively fast, the service is very careful and friendly, and the amount of food was more than we expected. Even that the restaurant is near a touristic area, the prices are very fair for the high quality fish & seafood served. The entrance door of the restaurant is wide open so that the air conditioning cannot adequately cool down the whole restaurant, but this seems to be a problem in general in Italy in the summer. In four days we went two times to have dinner in the Osteria Da Antonio - so you can imagine how much we loved it 🥰👍🏻

I order the sea food soup as people recommend, and it costs 15 euros which only have shells not as the photo which other people post before also with shrimp and the size is very different. (My is only one razor clam and without shrimp. I show the water picture before I order and he said yes, the things I order is like the photo, if is different amount and different of price I would like to be informed in that moment)It taste ok but in the end the bowl full of sand. Maybe this should not happened in this level of restaurant. It’s my first day arrive Napoli but not that hungry just want to try something here so I only order a soup but feel the waiter is not that happy I didn’t order more( it depend which guy you meet, one is friendly) I am one person they have options water 0.5 liter but he gave me 0.75 one directly which price is double without ask. The water ask me do I want to try the wine but I don’t like both he gave me , and cause he said “just try it” then I didn’t know I will be charge 2euro in the end. I don’t mind the money if is the things I order but this kind of hiding fee do make me don’t feel comfortable.

Osteria da Antonio is a must visit if you are in Naples. Antonio, the owner, is a pleasure. We arrived at 9:30pm without a reservation, yet he seated us with little wait inside the restaurant. There were many items unavailable, so we will be coming back tomorrow to try them. We had the lemon spaghetti with shellfish, the mussels, the calamari, and the vegetable soup. They were all spectacular. Such fresh and tender mussels, salted by the sea but not fishy in flavor. Much better than the frozen rubbery mind I have tried at many much more expensive establishments. The spaghetti was terrific, with tender tiny and long neck clams. The vegetable soup was textbook, soft vegetables and piping hot delicious broth. The best part of the experience, though, was the owner. You can tell he genuinely loves the food and the restaurant. I will be back many times.

!!! Can not recommend to anyone !!!

This restaurant looks very nice when you see it on Google Maps and in reality. But that's not true.

The prices are expensive and the food is of poor quality and in small portions. And then they demand a coperto of 3 euros per person. Insane.

We arrived around midnight and expected a good meal. We were just shoved to a table right at the edge of a noisy road. And at the end we got to see the Menu card and there for the associated coperto they forced us to order water, because then we had to pay the coperto no matter what. You are just taken by the nose and totally cheated. Huge Scam. We chose to order a pasta carbonara each. But it took our two waiters 20 minutes to get to our table. And half an hour before the food came. But now a bit of bread came. Which was so dry and hard that it was completely inedible. What is then served to us is the smallest bowl of pasta carbonara in the world, not even enough to satisfy a small 5-year-old child and we were two adults. This was incredibly disappointing when we had paid so much and were served so little. Beyond that, the food wasn't even good. Without any taste, there was no added pepper as you would otherwise expect for pasta carbonara. And the bit of bacon there was all raw.

All in all a bad experience and a bad end to some otherwise good days in Naples

Can't...

We were attracted to this restaurant simply because their Google rating looks legit and high.

We couldn't get in first time, because the elderly staff said we did not make a reservation eventhough there were plenty of empty tables, especially outside and it was only 5:45pm.

There weren't much options around the area so we tried again another night(day) and still did not make a booking because their website is not friendly and we cannot speak Italian so did not bother calling them.

We had spaghetti with clams and grilled octopus, etc...cant remember the full list. Foods were average compared to top restaurants in Florence/Rome, still cannot comprehend as to why their Google rating is so high. Do not expect flavour explosions or surprise. Pretty much they cook the foods so they are safe to eat and add a bit of seasonings, so to speak.

Worst thing is you cannot walk in and had to explain to the staff multiple times as to why you did not make a reservation multiple times and we felt bad or felt apologetic the whole time whilst we were there, not a pleasant experience. Also we didn't get the same treatment as the other diners for some reason.

Make sure you make a reservation, but their online reservation is hopeless or you just have to call.

Their Tiramisu was probably the best stuff at...
