Very poor experience. On a hot summer day in Napoli my friends and I decided to do a sight seeing tour in Napoli. After deliriously having walked around for 50 minutes in the blaring sun my friends and I had developed quite an appetite. Unfortunately it was in this state that we bumped into this restaurant which appeared appealing but in hindsight turned out being abysmal. Upon arrival we were cordially greeted by the owner who did not hesitate to introduce us to the pastas that he prepares well(or at least that is what we intuited from the conversation as he only spoke italian). After having presented the pastas he went back to the restaurant and let us make our choice. We then received a water bottle but without any glasses to drink from. I had to go into the restaurant and urge the waitress to bring us glasses who eventually did bring them but without a glimpse of an apologetic attitude for having forgotten them. At this point she also took our order and clearly did not pay much attention to our wishes as I ended up getting a rice dish after having asked for a pasta dish. I did let it slide as I did not want to be conflictive but I must stress that it was a rather small and mediocre meal for the price asked. Eventually we went inside to pay and were met with a major disappointment as the fee was too high for what had been offered. The cutlery turned out being 2 Euro per person when we had been given cheap plastic handle cutlery wrapped in low quality napkins. Additionally as we asked to split the bill and pay by card the owner discarded my proposition and asked to pay it all by cash. This is beyond audacious as I had seen a credit card machine in the store. This is all to urge you to avoid this restaurant...
Read moreWe stopped here on a Sunday eveninig, mainly because there were the place we wanted to go to was closed, and we were tired of walking. I wish we had kept walking. As soon as we sat down, they started pushing the chef's special on us. First of all, it was fish, and we didn't want fish. Secondly, it was 30 euros! We'd been having entire meals with wine for less than that! We wanted to sit for a minute, drink our beer, THEN order our food, but they kept bugging us about the chef's special. We finally convinced them we didn't want that. We ordered an appetizer of bruschetta, which was actually pretty good, even if it was only 2 pieces. My husband orderd pasta with mussels, and I ordered scallopini. Within 5 minutes, they were back at our table, informing us that they were out of scallopini, could they sub grilled sausage. Fine . When it finally arrived, my husband's looked ok, but he said it was pretty bland. Mine was one piece of grilled sausage that looked like it had seen better days, along with some iceberg lettuce and a few cherry tomatoes. We were starving, so we ate it. We decided to give the tiramisu a shot. Bad idea. Both slices put together weren't as big as a Kit Kat bar. When they finally brought the bill, we almost had a heart attack. 4 beers, 2 pieces of bruschetta, 2 subpar entree's(which were listed as 5 euros each on the menu) and almost a whole slice of tiramisu came to 59 euros! Please, avoid this place at all costs! The staff is pushy, the food is not good, and they overcharge you. They're giving restaurants in...
Read moreStopped for dinner around 930 due to the exploring we were doing. I wanted shrimp scampi and the other half wanted lasagna. She got gnocchi because they didn't have anymore lasagna and I received fish and pasta with mussels and miniature clams. Maybe some miscommunication there so I let it slide. Both meals were good and I would have again. He asked about mozzarella while we were waiting for our food and again maybe miscommunication.... but there sat a delicious huge ball of mozzarella which was very delicious. What we thought was going to be a relatively inexpensive meal under 50€ turned into a 100€ meal just like that. Now comes the bad part. The people at restaurant would NOT accept payment by card and wanted cash. I assume so they didn't have to report receiving income. This was definitely not what we expected and our meal ended up costing well over 100€ due to exchange rate differences and fees changed by my bank.
At the end of the day.... I would not and will not return to that establishment. It seemed they were more interested in coaxing money out of tourists; due to neither of us not being fluent in italian, than running a proper establishment. Take the review for what you will but I will end with I...
