Incredible steaks from kind people who knew what they're doing.
I went in for my birthday dinner. When we sat down they recommended a great bottle of wine, and then they brought out some appetizers (which we were surprised by, because we didn't order any). The first was a delicious, massive meatball covered in a delicious tomato sauce. I really wish I'd taken a picture, but it was so good that I devoured it too quickly. 😂
The second appetizer was a delicious bread with tomatoes on it (my girlfriend said that was one of her favorites).
When it came time to order, they gave a great steak recommendation.
After that, to our surprise, they brought ANOTHER round of really, really good fried breads. I only ate a few because I was worried I'd be too full for the steak, but WOW it was great. I saved the rest in the paper bag it came in, eager to snack on them later.
Then it was finally time to stop munching on appetizers and get to the main attraction, the steak. It was massive (over 1 kg), it was beautiful, and it smelled and tasted amazing. There were bites that were like pure butter. The fries that came with it were really, really great, too. All in all, it exceeded my expectations.
When we finally finished the steak, I thought I was going to burst from all the great food that I had. They offered us a limoncello, and the server specified it was free before we could even ask (which I really appreciated), and it was delicious.
When we were wrapping up and thought that was probably the end, they surprised us again. They brought out the best tiramisu I've ever had with a candle in it, and wished me a happy birthday. It was so incredibly creamy and delicious.
After I was done with dessert, I reached to grab my bag of goodies and realized one of the staff must have taken it to make space, which was completely understandable. When they noticed I was looking for it they ran off and got me a completely brand new one, and put it in a plastic bag so the oils don't leak through. I thanked them profusely, because I honestly didn't expect it.
When it finally came time to pay, they did add a 10% service charge, which thankfully was clearly stated in the menu, so that was totally fine. I honestly would have given it to them anyways. The final bill for two people, plus a bottle of house sparkling wine, and an extra side dish was €81, which I think was an excellent bargain for allllllll the delicious food we got.
The owner (the other happy guy pictured) was always hovering around in a good way, making sure things were running smoothly. There were tons of locals, and the area was nice and clean.
I'm absolutely coming back any time I come to Naples. Honestly, I might even come back this trip. They did a great job making my birthday dinner feel extra,...
Read moreSimply AWESOME! Probably THE best food experience of our three weeks in Italy. If you're a meat lover - Congratulations! You've just found Carnivore Heaven! But more than that, this is pure hospitality- Napoli style! We arrived 20 mins after official opening (Google time) at 7, but still 10 mins before real opening ( and an hour before the locals arrived!). No problem, we were shown to a table, given a couple of tasting glasses of wine to try, some bread, and confronted with a trolley containing a massive slab of dried beef and a whole half wheel of pecorino - each with a knife to chip away at them at will. Then followed an array of antipasto dishes- unsolicited but fantastic! Beans, meatballs and a variety of fried dumplings. A local steak was recommended for the three of us - ended up being about 1.2 kilos! Then the real theatre started! A sizzling hotplate appeared with a Flintstone-sized chop, complete with fries and other vegetables. The waiter seized the beast and carved it into smaller steaks at our table, replacing it on the hotplate to cook to our liking. Having fought our way through that, we meandered through the rest of our wine, and at some stage, through the food and drink haze, the limoncello magically appeared - not a nip, but a cask! We helped ourselves and, deciding there was no room for dolci, we paid the bill and made ready our escape. But, too slow! We were told to sit back down as three excellent tiramisu's were brought to round out our evening! Absolute value for money! (about 30 euro each - total, incl wine). The appetizers etc are "free" and the mains correspondingling pricey, but don't split hairs. Just sit back and let these guys feed you. You will not be disappointed. ...
Eravamo in tre. Appena entrati ci siamo seduti subito .
