We were told to visit this restaurant from our hotel staff as they offer fresh traditional pasta varieties on their menu. So we went at a weekday very late in the evening in order to find a quiet atmosphere. The restaurant is located in the heart on Naples, literally around so many other restaurants, bars, shops and touristic attractions. Staff were kind enough to allow us in as kitchen was closing in 30 minutes and they surely had a long busy day. The restaurant seemed to be very clean and staff spoke fluent English. One employee was kind enough to go through the menu and explain to us their dishes. For a starter, we decided to order the parmigiana salad which was truly delicious. Then for a main course, we opted for a manfredi ragu with ricotta and a rigatoni alla genovese. Both plates turned out to be very filling and delicious as expected. Their prices are considerably cheap compared to their portions and quality of the food. The only tiny negative part was that we ordered a local red wine carafe and they forgot to bring it to us which we fully understood. I would definitely recommend others to try this place out while touring around in Naples for a mouthwatering food...
Read moreThis was not my first time in Tandem. I came here for the first time with my nephew and here I am again, 1 year later, this time on my own and during the Xmas and new year festivities. The place was very busy and, if you are not Italian or used to the way Italians deal with queues, it can be traumatic to see the way they handle them. You basically give your name to a person who puts in a handwritten list, then calls your name when the table is ready . This can seem chaotic, and sometimes is, as a lot of staff go up and down and it might look like there is no coordination. Despite of all that, I did not have to wait for as long as I feared. I ordered Ziti alla genovese and polpette al ragù ( the first is a typical pasta dish that is well known in Naples but not so much anywhere else; the second is the classic meatballs with a slow cooked meat sauce ) . Both very decent and very flavourful. This is the type of cheap and cheerful trattoria that fills you up, and then sends you out happy and content, as you had a very satisfying meal without spending too much. If possible, I recommend going when they are not too busy or rushed off their feet; the experience is a good one, hence...
Read moreVery disappointing. I do not usually leave bad reviews, but due to the disappointment I want to share my opinions. We reserved at the restaurant, but there was some confusion about the exact location as there are multiple Tandem Ragù’s. This was not specified prior so we ended up having to walk to a further location. Not a big deal, but once we arrived and were seated, the service was slow and poor. Some of the dishes were unavailable even though we went there quite early. We ordered the fussili vegan ragù. In both the plates combined, we found only one piece of seitan, while it is supposed to be a seitan dish. Very disappointing. The sauce tasted like cheap, store-bought canned tomatoes without much flavor. A pity, especially when considering the price. The Aperol spritz was not very good at all and there were quite a lot of fruit flies. Overall, I would not recommend the place and regret...
