Trattoria del Carmine — Restaurant in Noto

This is a 5-star review based on what I expected walking in. We had just arrived in Noto and were really hungry. We chose this place as it was one of two places closest to our Airbnb rental. We are vegetarian - so we knew we had limited options, just wanted it to be passable. Our eggplant parmigiana was a-grade and most memorable - so delicately done, just melted in our mouths. I also had the pasta del carmine - which was great. The waiter who spoke very limited English even made an off menu pasta for my son with a pomodoro base. He also replaced my entire primi plate after I accidentally spilled wine into it. It was easily the least expensive meal we had ($30 in total) but included a 1/2 litte nice house red and beat the heck out of $80 meals in fancy Italian places in Seattle. Do not go here - our night was completely ruined. I have never had such bad and rude service: we waited 1h 10mins for our food, asked about it after 45 mins where is it and got horrible treatment. The staff complained they have a lot of customers while at least two tables next to us, customers arrived later than us, were served their appertizers and mains prior to us. Once the food arrived the side dish was not what we ordered. We mentioned about this and got an angry response "we run out of the side you wanted!". They did not tell us this or ask if it is ok to replace the dish with another one. The food was cold and below average. Not once did we get any apologies from the staff nor did we receive any discount. Also the restaurant itself is not cosy, no decorative eye, very ugly. There is nothing good I can say...

Alla luce della mia esperienza non riesco proprio a capire le recensioni positive. Antipasto misto (di terra) imbarazzante, due fettine di numero di salame, due di melanzane molle e probabilmente neppure fresche qualche pezzetto di formaggio. Un piatto del genere non sarebbe potuto uscire nemmeno dalla cucina di casa mia nelle giornate in cui ho non si è fatta la spesa, con gli avanzi del frigo. Attesa interminabile, che non discuto nelle giornate di ferragosto, ma quello che considero imperdonabile é l'errore nella comanda al quale nessuno si preoccupa di rimediare. Io personalmente avevo ordinato ravioli di cernia con gamberi e il mio fidanzato una pasta allo scoglio, ricevo ravioli panna e speck. Chiedo al cameriere se quelli fossero i ravioli di cernia ordinati, mi risponde "assolutamente no", faccio allora presente di essere anche intollerante al lattosio, mi invita allora a scambiare il piatto con il mio fidanzato e vista l'attesa di un'altra ora che si prospettava abbiamo acconsentito. Risultato: la mia pasta era completamente scotta e unta, i ravioli annegati nella panna non sono stati ugualmente graditi. Nonostante abbiamo restituito piatti praticamente pieni, abbiamo disdetto la grigliata di pesce e alla richiesta se fosse stato di nostro gradimento abbiamo risposto di no, non ci é stato offerto neppure un caffè nè qualche euro di sconto per compensare. Esperienza davvero negativa in questo ristorante, ma qui come in tutta questa zona della Sicilia il consiglio é di lavorare davvero sul concetto di ospitalità molto carente e di cercare di migliorare servizio e qualità dei prodotti offerti, il turista non è solo un...
