It’s rare to find an airport restaurant that serves good food, quickly. It’s even rarer to find one that does neither. In a stroke of unexpected (and not entirely welcome) creativity, Kara Kiosk is both slow and terrible.
Upon arrival, our party or 5 waited at the entrance for nearly 10 minutes while waiting staff ignored us entirely.
After realising we’d likely miss our flight before being seated, we went to order at the sandwich bar but were told to sit down and wait. With our hopes of eating in the next hour falling by the minute, we sat down at the only unoccupied (but heavily littered) table.
We were pleasantly surprised to discover there was both a wide selection of paninis as well as gluten-free options. However, the pleasantries ended there.
After another too-long wait, the waiter showed up and we repeated our exact order from the sandwich bar to him, only for him to yell it across the room to the very woman at the bar who had told us to sit down.
Upon enquiring about the gluten-free options marked clearly on the menu, and following a prolonged consultation with another member of staff, our waiter informed us there were none.
After shouting our order across the room, the waiter left, promptly ignoring the fact that our table had virtually no empty room thanks to the pile of trash left by the previous occupants.
When we finally flagged him again and asked for it to be tidied, the process took nearly 10 minutes, 3 return trips, and somehow still left trash on our table.
When paying, we finally realised the reason behind the ridiculous ordering system: a 20% service charge, though what service that covered is unclear. Throughout our meal the staff was consistently dismissive, inattentive, and occasionally rude (e.g., telling one of us off for eating their own takeaway pizza at the table).
To top it all off, our friend left with an upset stomach (which is shocking because he eats literally anything).
That said, per another reviewers comment, the water was...
Read moreThis place looks nice, and as a matter of convenience we decided to stop in for a bite and a drink since our rental wasn’t ready. The spritzes were good, but maybe that’s where it ends. While we were seated, I noticed customers waiting in line unattended for 20–30 minutes, frustration written all over their faces.
Where it really went limoncello-sour for us was when they mixed up our order with another table’s. A simple mix-up: we ordered a Margherita pizza, while the other table had ordered a plain pizza. It took a while to even get their attention since it was so busy. But instead of admitting the obvious mistake, they tried to convince us that what they served was a Margherita—while putting on an ignorant attitude.
I’m from New York, and while we may not be the home of Italian food, we make a pretty damn good Margherita. Don’t insult my intelligence. Don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining. Be careful...
Read moreNice atmosphere out in the green, which doesn't feel like airport at all. BUT: Do not order food here. It is totally overpriced, the service charge is ridiculous and -most important- food was really, really bad. We had two Burgers with fries (Beef and Iberico), and both burgers came with a cold and untoasted bun, patty, 4(!) thick slices of tomato and veeeeeery little lettuce. That's it. No sauce, no ketchup, no onions, no pickles, no cheese, no nothing. There was also some lettuce as a side, but same problem here: Zero dressing, no oil, no vinegar, nothing. When asking for Ketchup, we got 3 tiny(!) packages (for two burgers with fries). Burgers were 15 and 18 Euros, so not cheap at all. Finally, they put a service charge on the bill: 8.x Euros, which means almost 30%. Kara Kiosk might be ok for a quick coffee, but do yourself a favor a skip everything else - or you will regret...
