Riva 21 — Restaurant in Otranto

After several visits over the last 2 years we were really disappointed during our last meal, this was my wife's birthday and there was a 1 hour gap in our main courses arriving. Something was obviously wrong, the serving staff were very apologetic but the owner saw this as very transactional - her response being 'if you received your food then you pay for your food' - even if there is a 1 hour gap... the real end result is that we had planned to return during our vacation, but due to the response of the owner we ended up paying €150 for one visit (discounted after a lengthy negotiation) rather than €400 for 2 visits, and with the memory that we are now unlikely to go back again - it should be noted that this is the price of poor customer service. Honestly not a good place at all. We had to wait almost 30 minutes to order. When we arrived there we asked for water. We received it 40 minutes later. We went there before many people, but for some reason they just forgot us. We finally received our pizza, but no knife, basilic was missing, the tissues were missing and the tomato that was announced yellow were red. The pizza was tasteless.

There was lot of trash on the floor, paper etc... and nobody from the restaurant cleaned it.

And apparently the restaurant reply to people giving bad comment with an annoying way. Not professional and it clearly deserves a bad review. Listen to your customer instead of replying...

This was the worst meal we have ever had. Half the menu was not available which they only told us when they came to take our order and we had chosen from section which was not available. We chose the seafood risotto instead which came covered in mussels shells but only two had the tiniest mussels and the rest were filled with rice and two had not even opened. The rest of the seafood was hard to find amongst the great mound of very salty rice. We were not even sure it was Arborio rice. We each had a glass of house wine which was like vinegar.
