If I had to define the Italian cuisine based on this experience, I definitely won't like it. Usually, I carefully choose the places where we dine, but this time we arrived here after a hard day, and the kids were already hungry. Nevertheless, we had higher expectations for the restaurant since we trusted them with their invitation. I would like to note that one measure of a good place is that you are not called ahead from the street... there's a reason why there are long queues at good places. We received grumpy and careless service (for example, they suddenly threw a bag at us saying bread ...?, and the waiter was friendly only until we accepted their invitation, after that he constantly avoided eye contact). Furthermore, we asked if they had French fries for the kids, and they said they were sorry but they didn't have any, but when we chose a chicken and potato dish, they brought us a quasi "French fry"-like side dish. Not to mention that the "mirelit" chicken breast had a plastic taste. The salmon salad was also of supermarket-quality, like a pre-packaged one. Moreover, both the appetizer and the main course were tasteless. We paid 50€, ate because we were hungry (but didn't enjoy the meal), and left disappointed. There is room for...
Read moreOne of my favourite places to eat in Otranto! The staff were friendly and always greeted me with a smile. I loved the food and ate here so often that the guys knew me by name! My favourite dish was the Bruschetta and Lasagna. The food is reasonably priced and the staff don't rush you to leave when you have finished. The restaurant opens early and closes late - perfect for breakfast and dinner. The service is speedy and it was nice to see the locals pass by to pick up their orders and have a chat. During the evening it's lively with great music to vibe to and people watch. I will definitely be returning when I visit Otranto again. Grazie...
Read moreWe dined at Blu Bar tonight. The service was excellent. The staff were friendly, professional and had great personalities. When we commented to one of the staff that the table was unstable, he fixed it immediately. We exclaimed, ‘ it’s magic’ and he responded with a little dance and said’ no Magic Mike’. This fun continued for the rest of the evening. We started with cocktails, and only wanted a main meal and salad. They recommended the home cooked lasagna which was excellent. They also recommended a wonderful rośe. €68 for cocktails, wine, lasagna and salad for 3 people. Excellent value for money with wonderful staff - especially...
