I was excited to eat here before I made the trip to Otranto. The reviews and pictures had me talking about eating here until I finally did. I’m not sure if these are paid reviews, but my experience was very different. 1. Their menu prices are changed completely. On google, most panini are 11€. Then you see a board on the wall that says they are now 12 and 13€. When you go in person, they hand you a menu that says 14€ for most sandwiches. What is the criteria for ambiguously changing the prices of sandwiches that are 80% bread, 10% sauce, and 10% fish? There are other restaurants in Otranto where the food was generous, delicious and we had multiple courses for only 29€. Here we paid 38 and I’m not understanding why. 2. Why are you charging for coperto when this is like a fast food place and you serve in 3 paper boxes with no cutlery or utensils to eat? 3. This is the worst for me. Chips and fries are two different things. You noticed I was an English speaker and offered a QR code menu for easier reading, I thought it was nice of you. On that online menu, it says FRIES for 4€ (still overpriced but assuming they are traditional fries it is ok), on the other menu it says CHIPS. In some countries, CHIPS are what come in a bag as a snack. In other countries, CHIPS are the equivalent of FRIES. Because of this confusion, my partner tried to ask a woman in perfect Italian what you are selling because we did not want to pay 4€ for something I can get at a convenience store for 1€. In response she confirmed yes it’s patatine, the way she answered was almost as if she didn’t listen to our question at all and just wanted to get the order ready. So yes, we had 4€ potato chips we could have gotten at a convenience store or something. My expectations were really let down here after talking about this place all week. I wish restaurants like this one just focused on culinary excellence, fair prices, and client connection more than just being a tourist trap and maximizing...
Read moreWe have been in Salento quite a lot but never had before such a terrible experience. We were with some friends and the service since the first moments has been awful: waiters arrogant and out of the moon asking to move table or to stand up for their convenience when and as they needed. All of this, seating on stools!
Food? Just to know, 1 small box (like the MC Donald one) with 10pieces of fried seafood 18 Euros! At least 2times more expensive than other places...the overall food wasn't great at all and most of the sandwiches and panini we got, were quite a lot greasy.
Bill? Bring cash and coins with you, they don't split payments. The manager said that this would bother them...and it's the 2022!
Ridiculous (and rude).
So for 1 sandwich and beer each and shared antipasti 240€. We were 7.
Avoid...
Read moreDon’t go here if you are expecting fish in your fish and chips or chips for that matter. I’m sure the other menu items are nice unfortunately we ordered fish and chips + the calamari with an extra side of chips. We expected to receive what we ordered. Instead we received a box with one child’s palm sized piece of fish, with potato crisps like out of a chip packet but oily, prawns with the shell on/ not cleaned up and calamari. Calamari was fine and abundant since that came in the fish and chips as well as the separate one we ordered but was super greasy. Staff unhelpful and straight away defensive when we got up to pay. Try something else if you go here or head to parallelo for actual chips by the sea. Be wary of any restaurant that has 6 staff on who don’t...
