Final night for my wife and I in Modello, and I can not be happier with our choice to dine at Le Antiche Mura. We arrived early because we have a 5 am flight tomorrow, and the staff was generous with options as to where we can sit. The grounds were illuminated in such a way that felt very inviting, same as the dining room with immaculate table decor and alignment. The menus that were presented were very unique in shape and layout, and that immediately caught our attention as something that was thoughtful and rare. We selected a bottle of Marchesi Antinori blanc de blanc and the server opened the bottle without a pop. What a professional!😃
I failed to thank him directly for caring for what's inside the bottle and for preserving the gas...I hope he reads this review someday. Also, great wine list as well as prices.
Our first course was red tuna meatballs off the "cooked fish" portion of the menu. What a delight! The mint was a fabulous additional, but unfortunately the pine nuts were lost in the dish. Raw to garnish along with the mint would have made it more picture worthy thanks to contrast in color, while also allowing each ingredient to make a greater impact on the palate when consumed. Nonetheless the dish was delicious. Hats off to the chef for this amazing starter.
Both my wife and I had pasta as our entrees. My wife had the Tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, and I had the Tagliolino with shrimp, caviar, and brown butter. Wow! I was impressed with every gram of the dish. We also ordered a side of grilled vegetables and this was the first time in 2 weeks of being in Italy that I had the opportunity to eat a red bell pepper. What a surprise; I was grateful. We didn't stay for dessert or caffe due to our early morning flight. But next time I'm in town this will be the first place I come to for dinner. Prices are more than acceptable, and I highly recommend Le Antiche Mura for anyone looking for an elevated dinner experience in a romantic and...
Read moreHorrible experience, extremly overpriced for how rude the staff and bad the food is. If you order the Catalan Crustacean worth 40 euros you will be left wondering if the dish was meant to be warm or cold. You get some lukeworm, stringy lobster and two watery cold scampi with no way of eathing them other than biting through the shell (not even a tiny fork to scoop it out), even though if you look on the menu, the ingredient list is longer than that. If youre not mad by then for the absurd amount of money youre paying for basically two bites of bad fish, you will be after tasting the side it comes with. Somehow, the cooked potatoes were cold and the uncooked olives they came with were warm - making this an overall confusing experience I wish on no one. Good luck getting out of there as well, since the waiters will ignore you. After 15 minutes of trying to ask for the bill, we eventually got up and paid at the bar (wish we would have just left...
Read moreThree of us got here early with maybe two or three other tables occupied. We ordered and they served us the wrong dishes. When we finished eating, they end up delivering our dishes when we were full and we mentioned we were served already so they take the dish back but then come back later and just dropped the dishes off on our table and leave. They just say we ordered the dishes. The food is delicious here but the service is very slow, they are unattentive and sort of rude. Will not come back here.
Received a response from the owner that we ordered appetizers in response to my review but we only order three main dishes so that is incorrect but no arguing with them as mentioned with the service...
