We went off the beaten path a bit to find this place because it came highly recommended. Right as you enter, you'll hit a mob, so be sure to take a number from the machine as soon as you get in because it's turn-based. The good news is that the mob is mostly locals, so you know it's a solid pasticceria. We got a couple of the local delicacies and some coffees and sat inside while we snacked on them. The inside seating is a little hectic, so I'd recommend outside if the weather permits and it's not too crowded. The desserts were of course fantastic (and suuuper sweet, which I like), and the coffees were much needed. You should definitely stop in if you have time for a quick(ish, due to the line) treat.

This place was very busy on Christmas and for a reason, I saw so many beautiful pastry platters arranged in front of my eyes each more enticing than the other. Draw a number at the entrance and wait for your turn, order, pay at the cashier and pick up your carefully packed sweets. Sfogliata with ricotta was my favourite, super crispy layers and balanced ricotta cream. The pistachio petit fours was also amazing. House chocolate bars with pistachio and other nuts or dried fruit also available at the cashier desk.

While the cakes themselves were nice, the man who served us was rude. Obnoxious clearly into his phone more than serving us and being somewhat stuck up with my friend's best attempt to speak Italian seemingly consistently misunderstanding which cake she wanted, one or two pieces of. He then proceeded to play with his phone as he was half wrapping our package and generally seemed just annoyed at our existence. The taste of cakes was definitely not worth the attitude that we were given in this place

As an avid foodie, especially sweet treats, I aimed to try as many of "the best" baked goods and such on a recent trip to Palermo. I came by Pasticceria Cappello twice during my stay. On the first occasion, I was not acknowledged upon my entry and pondering. When I eventually said I would like to take some bits away, I was essentially ignored while others who had entered were attended to. I left, shocked at such treatment. I decided to give the Pasticceria the benefit of the doubt, returning the next day. This time I was again ignored, and quite rudely looked at. When I again asked to take some bits away, I was treated with such animosity and ignorance I was disgusted. I told the staff to not bother and walked out again. Regardless of the quality of your products, customer service is paramount. If you cannot provide this, and are in fact completely rude, custom should not be received at all - and was not by me in this instance. I took my custom and money elsewhere, where I was treated with the kindness and respect customers should be given. Please sort...

The pastries and gelato here looked beautiful, and we had planned to take some cannoli and fruit desserts home with us. But the staff was unwilling to wrap the pastries up to go, and were quite huffy with us. Totally unwilling to even try to communicate with us in Spanish or English. There was nowhere to sit inside, and the outside tables were unappealing both because of the infernal heat and the rather unattractive views. This location, on Via Colonna Rotta, is in a slum, complete with stinky garbage-lined streets. It was also a bit challenging to cross the streets in order to get here. All in all, the location and service were a disappointment. I would suggest instead their sister location on Vittorio Emanuele, Bistrot Capello, just a few blocks away, over this location. Bistrot Capello is easy to get to, has indoor and outdoor tables, and offers the same spectacular assortment...

If I can rate it 0 I would. The service is subpar and the gelato quality is mediocre. The staff have poor customer service. The first time I was there a young man that was the staff's amigo made a rude comment. If you can't act right, YOU NEED TO STAY HOME. The second and last time I will go there, the staff, the young man that is usually there and a young girl ringing up customers gave subpar customer service. If you can't give customer service, you should not be in customer service. You should be working in a non related customer service job. I didn't see any management, so that probably explains alot. The gelato I tried was mediocre. You get what you paid for. You can get that...
