A bit off the beaten tourist track, and hidden away behind a fairly simple facade with no tables outside, this wonderful restaurant is hidden away. We only went there because it was recommended by our fabulous hostess and were not disappointed. The interior is simple, but "old style" comfortable. We were served promptly, friendly and efficiently. Since they have many tables to serve it might seem a bit too quick at times but we had no problem with that. We had a mixed platter of antipasti and were a bit confused when only a small plate with some fried veggies and pork pieces arrived. The confusion resolved a minute later when the other parts of the antipasti came 😁 Plenty and very good. For main courses we picked squid and eggplant involtini. We enjoyed both dishes a lot, as well as the wine that was recommended by the staff. If you plan to go, best make a reservation.

Trattoria ai Cascinari served the best food I had during my stay in Palermo, Sicily. The fettuccine pesto pasta was my favorite dish, incredible flavors. The swordfish was also perfectly cooked. For dessert, the cassata il forna was delicious, so glad the server recommended it to us. Service was delightful and I enjoyed the corn fritters served prior to our meal. I also loved the history of the restaurant. When you read the history of the restaurant located in the menu, you truly appreciate the experience and the food even more. Thank you for preserving the authentic Sicilian cuisine.

Although the atmosphere wasn’t super vibrant, it reflects the traditional/local story behind the restaurant. Go here if you want to eat some seriously good traditional Sicilian food!! We ordered the stuffed squid, stuffed swordfish, potato salad and squid ink pasta. My husband said the pasta was the best squid ink pasta he’s ever eaten. The wine was affordable and we had a very delicious meal. Please go here if you want authentic local food!!

We are lucky can get a table without reservation. The restaurant is a bit away from tourists area (quantti canti) but it’s very busy and lots of local customers, it keeps serving the dishes every minutes. All dishes we had ordered are very delicious and fresh. Those staffs are friendly and patient. We spent about €60 for 2 pastas, 1 appetizer, 1 first course and 1 dessert, some soft drinks which is pretty reasonable. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is hidden in Palermo but I recommend it if you want to try typical and tasty Sicilian food. The place is full of history. We had pasta alla norma and pasta with pesto & pistachio which were really good. The service was one of the best I have ever had in Sicily: the owners were so welcoming and nice! If you're looking for authenticity, that's where you should go.

The best in town!
