Very mixed feelings and here is why. Great place, great service, amazing presentation and food also was NOT bad, but not great either. Allow me to explain. Starters were perfection, already fell in love. Then we come to pasta and you can feel it's all there, nothing bad, great produce used but there is no balance. Too salty, too peppery seafood pasta, too much tomato sauce and dozens of olives in fish pasta that the main star of the dish (the fish) totally disappear. Left you thinking, if it was not a tomato sauce but whole cherry tomatos, maybe i would have tasted fish... A very strange experience. We have had bad food many times and this was not the case here, but it wasn't great meal at all. Did not stay for desert. Apologies to write this, but the single oddest not bad experience in a long while. I would love to score higher but...

UN RISTORANTE CHE FA LA DIFFERENZA

Il ristorante "La Ruota" , situato alla marina di Pizzo Calabro, è meraviglioso. È molto elegante, curato nel dettaglio ed accogliente. Non è solo un locale dove poter assaggiare cucina di qualità ma anche un luogo di pace che rende questo luogo magico. Il proprietario è una persona esemplare con un cuore nobile che ama il suo lavoro e ci mette il cuore in tutto quello che fa. "La Ruota" è il miglior ristorante in cui io abbia mai mangiato! Ci sono posti a sedere sia all'interno che all'esterno. Noi abbiamo preferito sederci fuori per godere della vista sul mare. Gli CHEF grazie all'abilità, esperienza e creatività riescono a dare vita a piatti fortemente identitari dalla spiccata personalità in grado di coniugarsi bene con un contesto di grande atmosfera. La cucina creativa non viene mai dal nulla. Occorre, infatti, esperienza e continua ricerca di nuovi accostamenti. Gli ingredienti e le tecniche della cucina tradizionale, soprattutto di una terra ricca di sapori come la Calabria, sono sempre un punto di partenza, un bagaglio culturale, un percorso ininterrotto che porta a nuove esperienze di sapore. Piatti ben preparati e curati. Portate degne di nota, ogni piatto era perfetto. Qualità altissima. Materie prime eccellenti. Il pesce è freschissimo e cucinato egregiamente. Non ci sono parole per descrivere la bontà di ogni piatto. È stato tutto divino. Una menzione d'onore al cannolo scomposto servito con ricotta. Il personale è giovane, brillante, gentile, disponibile e con quell'allegria che solo i calabresi riescono a trasmettere. Il servizio è stato impeccabile :ci tengo a fare i complimenti a Michele, il cameriere che ci ha seguiti dall'inizio alla fine in maniera esemplare con il sorriso, con la massima gentilezza e professionalità. Se fosse possibile darei 100 stelle. Rapporto qualità - prezzo ottimo. È un ristorante che merita la STELLA MICHELIN. Consiglio a tutti un'esperienza gastronomica che solo in questo ristorante si può fare! Really clean and friendly atmosphere, we were shown an off piste dish of fresh lobster which is an unusual dish for this area, we decided to go for it and what a great choice, visually stunning and very flavoursome, great choice of wine on offer too. The restaurant has had a very tasteful makeover which enhances the overall experience. We ate outside for lunch with a wonderful sea view what more could you ask for.
