Five stars all the way, everyday!
We did the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing! I was very happy to be walking home!
Everything was top-notch, from the moment we arrived, they knew who we were and they were ready to seat us and start the feast!
A variety of dishes… from start to finish. A small cone filled with cheese, fresh baked bread and homemade crackers! Then oysters, lobster ravioli, veal (best ever) and desserts. Somewhere in there was the chef’s special 5 seasons of onions… wow! Onions stewed in strawberries, with other crunchy onions to provide texture. Delightful!
Notice desserts was plural: the predessert, a peach soaked in local wine with Demi glacé sauce, then the croccante pastry stuffed with chantilly cream sauce, and finally, both white and milk chocolates petit fours.
The wine pairings were spectacular! My wife did the 4 local pairings from the local region, while I did the 5 International and we then did some comparisons… adding the element of wine tasting along with our five-star dinner!
Highly recommend this place! If you’re ready to enjoy some wonderful hospitality, sit down and do the chefs menu, you’ll love it,...
Read moreI have spent quite some time thinking about how many stars to give to this unique restaurant. This is because I felt that we experienced two extremes. On one hand, there was the nice environment coupled with tasteful music, very polite and attentive waiters, huge variety of local and foreign wines, excellent welcoming appetizers and starters (primi piatti & antipasti). Unfortunately, then came the main courses (secondi piatti). The veal was supposed to be a slow-cooked, succulent, tender kind of meat. Instead, one piece was totally unchewable and tasteless and the other piece was nicely cooked. Therefore I think it might be a matter of quality of the raw material. The fish was over-cooked and had lost its tenderness. Finally, the risotto was ok but not what you would expect after such a promising start. Therefore, comparing the price tag to the overall quality I would say 3 stars out of 5 is fair, for the night that we visited and for the...
Read moreWonderful dinner place in Polignano a Mare! The restaurant is a bit far out from Centro Storico but still at a walkable distance. The menu centers around the local Pugliese cuisine but offers individual twists here and there.
We ordered a la carte because I am vegetarian and their tasting menu was not suited for vegetarians but even as a vegetarian, you will not miss anything amidst the stellar seafood dishes. My favorite dish was their take on a Bruschetta Pugliese, closely followed by their Tarte al Caffè Leccese with Almond Mousse for dessert.
The service was outstanding and neatly choreographed. The atmosphere inside is classy and well complemented by the light jazz music that will accompany your evening. My recommendation: Go early in the evening, start off with a drink and then enjoy...
