Lido Cala Paura — Attraction in Polignano a Mare

What a great experience with the locals. Fun group of gentlemen taking the money and setting up the chairs with umbrellas. Even if you think that everything is reserved just ask anyway if they have room. They will find a way. We almost didn't and would have regretted it. The beach does have rocks but many of the small beach shops leading to the beach sell water shoes. I suggest you buy a pair or just wince like a local coming in and out of the water. No James bond sexy movements coming out of the water. Prepare to grimace. I was very thankful for my flip flops that wrap around my feet. Another option besides throwing your towel on the ground is laying on the wooden path and leaning up against the rocks. It's fabulous people watching. Teenagers have a great time here and the water is perfect for the little ones. It's such a unique swimming experience. Afterwards walk to the city center and have some gelato or street food. Here I'm talking about the Lido di Cala Paura. Not the naturally beautiful bay! August 2021, the Lido, where you have to pay 9¥ for a lousy beach chair, is a shame. A shame, una vergogna, a rip of, and the worst beach ever seen in Italy. Dirty, dirty toilets, no showers, dirty everything. No distance, beach chairs and people squeezed in. Clearly no Covid here. So: Heaven!

In summary, dirty, lousy, loud, cheap bad music, lowest quality of everything. Not worth paying a cent. A shame for Polignano al mare. Place should be closed down, the current owners punished and sent away. And after thorough cleaning and building of infrastructure reopened. Or at least be left as...

Punti di forza: •posizione dello stabilimento: la cala in cui si trova lo stabilimento è meravigliosa e incantevole. Il mare è cristallino e si intravedono i pesci nuotare in banchi. •prezzo: per un ombrellone e due lettini abbiamo pagato 21 euro.

Punti a sfavore: •sporcizia del terreno: i caratteristici sassi della zona sono accompagnati da una moltitudine di cicche di sigarette, pacchetti di patatine vuoti, tappi di birra (peraltro pericolosissimi per chi vuole camminare senza scarpette) e altre cose. Sebbene questa problematica sia presente anche in altre parti della cala non direttamente controllate dallo stabilimento, ci si aspetterebbe che quest'ultimo si impegni nella pulizia delle zone da esso detenute. L'inquinamento (sia da parte del criminale che getta rifiuti a terra che da parte del gestore che non pulisce) è un insulto alla Puglia e alle sue bellezze naturali, al suo ecosistema, alla sua biodiversità e a tutti coloro che tengono al territorio. •servizi: i bagni del locale sono pessimi. Il dispensatore dell'acqua per il water è rotto (almeno al giorno 01/08/2023) in tutti i bagni e così il visitatore si trova a dover interagire con le deiezioni dei precedenti clienti e con i loro peculiari aromi. I lucchetti sono arrugginiti e la cabina in generale non è pulita (tutt'altro). Per il resto, i servizi offerti sono: ombrellone, lettini, assistenti bagnanti, pagamento con il POS. Non so se c'è un bar in quanto non ne ho avuto bisogno.

Detto ciò, decido di dare 2 stelle perchè, a discapito di tutti i difetti che ho elencato, cala paura è una bellezza naturale. L'insenatura, il mare, le rocce, l'architettura circostante e le creature marine rendono il posto incantevole. Ritengo che la cura del luogo sia un PREREQUISITO per chiunque voglia portare avanti un'attività commerciale di questo genere.
