Gamberi&Capperi — Restaurant in Ponza

A friend of mine suggested me this restaurant, and we thought to give it a try, we went inside and Luisa approached us with a beautiful smile, they also had mask on and hand sanitiser to use for customer, sommelier and waiter they were very professional, then Luisa came to take our order and she suggested to try the antipasto crudo which it was delicious and I went also for the octopus with potato and some kind of sauces which I can't remember what it was, for mains I have tried the cacio e pepe with smokey raw prawns, I almost took the plate and lick it 😋, then me and my friend we shared gamberoni al flambé, they came with a trolley and they did the flambè in front of us, also they were fabulous maybe even more than that, I don't know how to describe that and at the end i had a chocolate mousse with orange jam also beautiful, comparing price with food it was very honest, thank you Luisa and staff again, I ll definetely came back. I had the best night ever! Fist of all, the terrace is super cool, and relaxing. As soon as I walked in, Luisa was very kind and with a big warm smile took us to the table. I felt straight away in a cosy, and familiar place. The food was excellent, absolutely perfect! We stayed 5 days on the island, and only at gamberi & Capperi we found something different in the menu, the other restaurants we visited offered all the same things. Trying all this amazing fresh seafood cooked with such particular ingredients, was an explosion of flavours in our mouths. Service was impeccable as well, from the chef (that prepared most of the dishes in front of us with a very impressive explanation of what we were going to eat), to all the waiting staff. Another difference with the rest of the island is that in this restaurant they all speak English.......

Forse sono giunta al ristorante eccessivamente carica di aspettative e quindi, come spesso succede , il risultato è stato deludente. Premetto che ho chiamato il martedì per prenotate dicendo che ero disponibile a cenare lì sia il mercoledì che il venerdì, purché avessi avuto un bel tavolo. Ci viene indicato un tavolo nell’angolo estremo di una bella terrazza che da su un giardino, a ridosso di un ambiente con un’apertura che lasciava vedere l’interno in cui erano stoccate bibite, cestelli per ghiaccio e cose del genere. Questo era il “panorama “ di cui godeva mia figlia che era seduta di fronte a me. Inoltre non passava un filo d’aria. Chiediamo di cambiare tavolo e dopo qualche insistenza veniamo condotti ad una terrazza posta al piano di sotto, meno carina, ma sicuramente con un tavolo in posizione migliore. Il menù è molto originale, i primi ottimi e molto ben presentati. Per secondo ordino una frittura di calamari spillo. Mi viene portata una classica frittura di calamari. Chiedo spiegazioni e mi dicono che i calamari spillo non ci sono e se proprio non gradisco posso ordinare un altro piatto. Opto per i gamberi e capperi, davvero molto buoni. Passiamo al dolce. Chiediamo spiegazioni su un dolce a base di mango e ci viene detto che è un semifreddo. Dopo 10 minuti la cameriera si scusa e ci dice che non si tratta di un semifreddo ma bensì di una tartelletta con crema di mango. Decidiamo di non ordinarlo e chiediamo il conto. Dopo un’attesa infinita al nostro sollecito ci viene detto che c’era stato un disguido e pertanto il nostro conto non era stato ancora chiesto. Il cameriere ci consiglia di recarci direttamente alla cassa per evitare altre attese. Ci viene presentato il pre conto e noto che era stata inserita anche la frittura. Ho raccontato l’accaduto e la cassiera, non fidandosi della mia spiegazioni, ci ha lasciato in attesa per avere chiarimenti dal personale. Finalmente paghiamo e andiamo via.
