Horrible experience.

This place is a tourist trap that only cares about making money. Food was shockingly bad for the price. Please if you want a relaxing night with good service and decent food find somewhere else!

We came in as a group of 7, and ordered our food in italian whilst pointing at the menu. When the food finally arrived 2 of the plates were missing. We alerted the waiter who said the lady who had taken our orders had made a mistake due to the language barrier. We then very clearly repeated the 2 missing orders. Another 15 minutes passed. They brought out 1 plate. At this point, everyone had finished with their food and we alerted the waiter once again that 1 plate had still not arrived. He then said that they had made the order wrong again. Shocked, we repeated the order for the third time, he offered us some “complementary” wine and we waited for the plate to arrive. The plate finally arrived after 20 minutes and was so different to what we had imagined that the girl who ordered it did not eat it herself. We later found out that they had given her the completely WRONG meal. This goes beyond a careless mistake to complete negligence and lack of care.

However, it does not end here.

When they brought us the bill we noticed that they had not only charged us for the WRONG order (that they had brought after a painful 1 hour wait), and the extra wine which they had OFFERED us in compensation for this wait, but also a whole other plate that no one had ordered (8 meals instead of 7). The night ended with a member of the group having to argue with the manager about this. This man did not even want to remove the mysterious 8th meal that we were being charged for. We received no discount and were forced to pay for the “complementary” wine that we did not even want, as well as the meal that they incorrectly made.

Truly ruined our first night in Italy and caused a huge amount of stress.

As a local from Salento, I had the pleasure of dining at Almanegra, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. We started with the "fried calamari and shrimps" and the "mixed fried Salento", which were both perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The freshness of the seafood was evident, and the light, crispy batter was simply delightful.

For mains, we chose the "tagliatelle pasta dough with Salento Primitivo wine and seafood delights" and the "fusilli Avellinesi pasta with wild black boar ragù". The tagliatelle dish was a harmonious blend of the region's rich wine notes and the delicate, fresh seafood – a true celebration of Salento flavors. The fusilli with wild boar ragù was equally impressive, with a hearty and flavorful sauce that paired beautifully with the pasta.

The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. The quality of the food and the authenticity of the dishes made it clear that Almanegra takes great pride in showcasing the best of our local cuisine.

PESSIMA ESPERIENZA. Abbiamo cenato presso questo ristornate ad agosto 2025, ho ordinato un primo di frutti di mare. Verso la fine della consumazione del mio pasto arriva la cameriera (almeno credo fosse la cameriera visto che non mi aspetto un comportamento così poco professionale da una titolare) accompagnata da un altro cameriere, mi fissa arrogante guardandomi mentre mangio e con il tono altrettanto arrogante mi dice (dandomi del TU): “ma sai che pasta stai mangiando?????!…” Io rispondo di no imbarazzata senza capire cosa stesse succedendo. Mi dice che la pasta che sto mangiano è per i celiaci ed è della signora del tavolo accanto al mio… Senza capire se devo sentirmi io in colpa per questo loro errore, le rispondo che onestamente mi ero accorta che la pasta era strana, ma che non volevo sembrare una cliente lamentosa, quindi non ho detto niente e ho continuato a mangiarla. La cameriera a voce alta continua lo show incolpando davanti a tutti i clienti il cameriere che era vicino a lei, dicendo che era stata tutta colpa sua e dicendogli: “hai visto che pasticcio hai combinato?!”. L’imbarazzo cresceva ancora di più e onestamente mi dispiaceva anche per questo povero ragazzo umiliato davanti a tutti. Perché l’errore ci può stare, importante è rimediare con garbo e trovare l soluzione per avere i clienti comunque soddisfatti. Dopo un po di tempo arriva il titolare e mi porta il piatto di pasta corretto, io le dico di no perché avevo già avuto la pasta “sbagliata”, lui mi fa il gesto con la mano per dirmi “tienila quà, l’errore è nostro”, ci mette sul tavolo la pasta e scappa via. A quel punto mi tocca accettarla, capendo che si volevano scusare e apprezzando il gesto, condivido la pasta con la famiglia visto ero anche sazia, per non buttarla via visto che l’hanno fatta di loro spontanea volontà senza chiedermi se la desideravo ancora. La sorpresa arriva quando paghiamo il conto: ci addebitano entrambe le paste!!! Incredibile!!! Niente scusa, solo richiesta di soldi. Mio marito fa notare che l’errore era loro e che noi non abbiamo chiesto 2 paste… Qui interviene la solita signora cameriera dicendo che abbiamo mangiata anche la seconda pasta e quindi dobbiamo pagarle entrambe. Alla fine c’è stata una discussione e solo una volta che mio marito ha lanciato i soldi anche della seconda pasta sul banco per dire ma tienili qui! Il titolare non li ha voluti, comunque a malo modo. Ci hanno rovinato sia la cena, che la serata della nostra vacanza perché oltre dal danno abbiamo avuto la beffa. A parte la poca professionalità e poca correttezza, sconsiglio questo ristorante anche perché nessuno dei piatti consumati era buono. Anche se siamo turisti e non torneremo magari a breve, non vuol dire che bisogna approfittarsi in questa maniera e permettersi certi atteggiamenti....
