🍕Lunch with a View at Trattoria San Gennaro, Praiano
While exploring Praiano, Italy, we came across Trattoria San Gennaro, tucked near a charming church with a breathtaking view of the Amalfi Coast. We were looking for a quick lunch with scenery, and this spot delivered.
I ordered the octopus salad 🐙🥗, fresh and light, while my husband went for the four-cheese pizza 🍕. A note for travelers: the pizza includes blue cheese 🧀, so if that’s not your favorite, be sure to ask for a substitution. Our meal was simple and satisfying, but for me, the highlight was the view and the melon liqueur (similar to limoncello)—so refreshing and unique.
✨ Pro Tips for Travelers: • ✅ Best for a quick lunch with a gorgeous view 🌊 • ✅ If ordering pizza, clarify your cheese preference 🧀 • ✅ Don’t miss the house-made melon liqueur—it’s a gem 🍈
Pros 👍 • Lovely coastal views 🌊 • Great location near San Gennaro church ⛪ • Fresh seafood & traditional pizza 🍕🐙 • Local liqueur was outstanding 🍈
Cons 👎 • Pizza comes with blue cheese (not for everyone) • Simple Octopus salad (not grilled) with lemon juice as dressing (lack flavoring.)

Read moreDining at Trattoria San Gennaro was one of the highlights of our Amalfi trip, thanks to Antonio and Rossella’s incredible hospitality. From the very start, Antonio welcomed us with thoughtful touches like a glass of prosecco while we waited and always made sure we had the best table with a view, while Rossella attended to us with extra special care and attention that made every visit feel warm and personal. The food was extremely authentic and absolutely delicious—so good my partner couldn’t help but compare it to his own Nonna’s cooking! We loved it so much that we happily returned several times.
Their kindness went far beyond the restaurant—Antonio insisted on driving us safely back to our accommodation at night, knowing how dangerous the coastal roads can be, and even woke early on the day of our departure to personally drive us to the Amalfi port during a transport strike so we could continue our travels.
Antonio is a true class act—10/10. Never have we had such a lovely, genuine connection with someone we had only just met. We will happily return the next time we...
Read moreGreat meal, beautiful view and free parking! This is a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view of the Amafil coast towards Positano in the distance. When we arrived, all the tables by the balcony were occupied but the staff were super friendly and offered to move us to a table by the balcony once one became available. The restaurant also overlooks a very old church with the bell going off regularly, and the locals socialising outside the church, it is truly a serene and authentic Southern Italy experience. The food were delicious and well portioned. All the seafood also tasted fresh. On top of it all, the restaurant has its own free parking for customers! (But be aware that the parking is down a narrow-ish alleyway with a 20° slope. So if you are in a big car or not as confident a driver, it might be best to park elsewhere in the town.) Overall this restaurant offers a great experience for tourists travelling through the Amalfi Coast. So good, in fact, that we even went back again a couple...
