La Vecchia Cucina di Soldano — Restaurant in Prato

The best food we have had Italy so far (our 10th day). The food was excellent, the sizes are large and the service is as good as it gets. We were the only non locals and even the restaurant was full they found space for us. We had no idea what was on the menu but it was explained and the recommendation was good. The price is good, everyone, including the stuff and the patrons, are very nice. We had dinner twice and we are sorry that we cannot go back again because they are closed on Sunday. Vergogna! Abbiamo prenotato io e miei amici (7 persone) un tavolo per le 21:30 di sabato sera. Ci accorgiamo di essere in ritardo e 10 minuti prima della prenotazione chiamiamo e ci scusiamo per il disguido, chiedendo se fosse un problema. Con molta gentilezza ci viene detto che non ci sono problemi e che ci avrebbero aspettati. Arriviamo dunque con 15 minuti di ritardo e veniamo invitati quasi ad andarcene perché alle 22 (di sabato sera) la cucina avrebbe chiuso. Ovviamente siamo rimasti perplessi dato che abbiamo anche chiamato per avvisare del ritardo e non ci era stato detto niente della chiusura della cucina o del fatto che fosse un problema.

Detto questo ci siamo comunque seduti e siamo stati trattati come degli indesiderati veri e propri, il menù c'è stato lanciato letteralmente sul tavolo con tanto di "ordinate in fretta perché la cucina chiude". Noi abbiamo risposto che bastava che ce lo dicessero così non avremmo prenotato alle 21:30 o se al telefono ce lo avessero comunicato non saremmo proprio andati. Colui che sembrava essere il titolare (o il direttore, non saprei), ha risposto che dovevamo immaginarlo, che gli orari dei camerieri sono questi (ma da che mondo e mondo un ristorante chiude la cucina alle 22 di sabato sera? Boh.).

TUTTI i camerieri eccetto uno, sono stati non scortesi, di più, sfilandoci il piatto da sotto il mento non appena poggiavamo la posata per farci velocizzare. Né un "posso", né un "grazie", no: mutismo e maleducazione.

Piatti mediocri, vino buono e pessima accoglienza, quanto basta per non tornare...

Definitely book ahead as this place fills out very quickly. The food was amazing, the decor was mesmerising and the wait staff were so welcoming. They tried their best to not only accommodate for me in English but also to make small conversation. I wanted to visit again for my last meal before leaving Prato but they were booked out.
