🍕Dino Express — Restaurant in Rome

My wife and I were here 11 years ago, April 12, 2014. We were staying at the Visconti Palace a few blocks away, and I was walking around looking for an interesting place to eat dinner. I walked by the (closed) restaurant during the afternoon and struck up a mixed English/Italian conversation with the owner who happened to be sitting outside. He told me to come back later that evening, and said he would personally serve us a sample of almost his entire menu. We returned in the evening and had the most enjoyable and interesting meal we have ever had in Italy. The owner personally attended to us with great kindness. We returned to Rome a few weeks later, but, unfortunately, the restaurant was closed that day. Immediately after entering this little and quaint restaurant we were welcomed warm heartedly by Dino. He than presented his self-written menu and explained every single item as our knowledge of the italian language is almost non-excisting. Only my wife was asked what she would like to drink (she asked for red wine), we got a bottle of red wine served, which I actually found very funny. Without asking we were served a couple oft appetizers. The food was multo bene, really really good. And the prize was more than reasonable. There may be little selection, but that is a product of all the food being what is fresh and good on the day you go to dine, as is the custom with trattorias. For tourists: the menue will have a selection of Prima, Secondo, and Contorni. These are starters, main courses, and sides. You will order one of each, typically. The menue is informal, written out daily on a pad of paper, and only in Italian, but the waiter will happily give you a full translation.
