We visited this restaurant twice during our one-week stay in Rome, and it was absolutely perfect! It is not in the city center or among the usual tourist traps, and it is not a famous spot. We simply walked by, thought it looked nice, and decided to try it. It turned out to be our best dining experience in Rome.
The food was amazing, with some of the best pasta we had on our trip. But it was not just about the food, the staff were so friendly, and the atmosphere was wonderful. There was no rush to order, no pressure to clear the table quickly for the next guests. Every customer was treated with genuine respect, and everyone around us seemed to be enjoying themselves. We spent around three hours there and had such a lovely time.
A few days later, we had a reservation at “Felice a Testaccio,” an overrated restaurant that was a complete disappointment, both in food and in the way they treated customers. We left before even finishing our meal and came back here to end our last night in Rome on a good note. What a difference!
The staff welcomed us warmly again, served us complimentary Limoncello shots, and when we asked about their delicious extra virgin olive oil, they told us it came from the owner’s relatives’ farm. They even offered to sell us some, and we happily left with two bottles at a very fair price.
If you want to experience Rome with authentic food, a warm atmosphere, and genuinely kind people, this is the place. You will enjoy incredible pasta, be treated like a valued guest, and leave with a full heart. We will definitely...
Read moreTonight we decided our last meal in Rome should not be spent in a hotel restaurant so we headed downtown relying on restaurant reviews to guide us. We quickly found that without a reservation our evening would be challenging. After being turned away at one restaurant we passed Li Ar Monte Testaccio on our way to our second choice. Immediately as we passed, 3 of the staff were out front greeting us and inviting us in. They were understanding when we passed by and continued to our second choice which also turned us away without a reservation. We decided to go back and give them a try. We are so glad that we did! From the music to the beautiful interior, we felt so comfortable. Then the food started coming. The Bufalino pizza was incredible. And the fried mozzarella was the best we have ever had. We had pastas and deserts and enjoyed everything we ate. Service was excellent with everyone being kind and helpful. We had to meet Matteo after searching and seeing his name in all the reviews. He gave us great recommendations but honestly everyone on staff was fantastic. I asked why I hadn’t found them in my searches and we learned they are a new restaurant. I highly recommend a stop to Li Ar Monte when in Rome. My only fear is that when word gets out you will need a...
Read moreIf I could give this place ten stars I would! We stumbled across Ar Monte on the second night of our 10 day stay in Rome. We ended our stay with them for a total of 3 nights, with each night, trying something different on the menu as recommended by Meysem our server who was an absolute amazing person. Next came sweet Agatha who was originally from Poland. When we asked for butter for our bread...she knew exactly why! The food was so authentic and so much to choose from. Both of these people took time to explain the menu items and answered any questions we had with zero language barriers. If you are looking for wonderfully amazing drinks...Lorenzo is your guy. I have never had a D'sorrono Amaretto sour like his. And I've had plenty! Not to mention the mojitos! Being from Texas, they made us feel like home. We entered there as strangers in a country for the first time and left like family. We will always remember AR Monte and look forward to the...
