Polo Museale Atac — Attraction in Rome

Troppo poco valorizzato e troppo snobbato. Probabilmente per il fatto di non essere abbastanza conosciuto ma sicuramente almeno i romani dovrebbero inserirlo nei MUST delle cose da vedere: qui c'è la storia del trasporto cittadino dall'inizio alla metà del 1950 per quanto riguarda la produzione ma per molti più anni per quanto riguarda il funzionamento, perché il sottoscritto alcuni di quei mezzi li ha continuati a veder circolare fino almeno all'adolescenza e oltre. Piccola esposizione ma molto significativa di motrici, vagoni e anche biglietti, obliteratrici manuali e quanto ha caratterizzato il trasporto ferrotranviario di Roma e provincia del secolo scorso, almeno fino agli anni '80. La parte dei plastici mostra più i suoi anni ma l'allestimento, per la maggior parte all'esterno, sebbene non particolarmente curato e manutenuto, permette di visitare quasi tutti i vagoni. In un lato della Stazione di San Paolo (quella realizzata da Piacentini), secondo me è un'esperienza emozionante che commuoverà tutti quelli che in quei tram ci sono saliti e sarà un modo per farli conoscere a figli e nipoti, che si lamentano anche della comodità di quelli odierni. If you're interested in trains, this museum is for you. It's allowed to step inside the trains and even sit down in the train drivers seat. The staff can speak English and is very friendly. They will guide you around for free and give lots of interesting information. I learned a lot about the history of public transport in and around Rome. 10/10 if you're a train enjoyer.
