Greco Romano — Restaurant in Rome

My husband and I came across this restaurant at the last minute whilst looking for places to eat nearby as we were walking to an art museum. Hospitality was warm and welcoming. The chef himself, Charalambos came out to greet each table and wish everyone thanks. We ordered the Greek village salad (choriatiki), stuff vine leaves (dolmadakia), courgette balls, spinach pie (spanakopita) and Greek pitta bread. The bread was warm and dressed with olive oil and herbs. Delicious! The salad and spanakopita were the best we've ever had and we've eaten a lot of these! Both were of very generous portions. All ingredients were fresh and flavorsome. I especially like that the spanakopita did not include feta inside it, instead it is served with cubed feta on the side. Ciao a tutti! Sono felice di recensire questo piccolo ristorante trovato per caso a Roma. Si trova in una via molto bella e silenziosa. Il ristorante è piccolo e grazioso, ti accoglie appena ti trovi davanti alla porta di ingresso, talmente carina che ti sembra quasi di entrare a casa di qualcuno. Effettivamente è un po’ così. Siamo stati subito accolti dallo chef (immagino sia anche il proprietario) che ci ha salutati (in greco eheheh) e ci ha fatto accomodare nella sua dimora. Ogni tavolo del ristorante è diverso dagli altri, ma non per caso, è chiaramente una scelta davvero bella, ogni posto ha il suo stile e sembra davvero di trovarsi in una casa, la cucina è subito lì dietro e visibile, una piccola cucina dove lo chef riesce a destreggiarsi abilmente e con velocità. In pochi minuti abbiamo cominciato a sentire dei profumi buonissimi, sembrava davvero di essere tornati in Grecia. CIBO: Ottimo, potrei non aggiungere altro. Innanzitutto abbondante, tant’è che alla terza pietanza ho chiesto di poterla portare via perchè non sono riuscita a terminarla. Ma l’abbondanza ci interessa meno rispetto al sapore delle pietanze che abbiamo trovato buonissimo, ingredienti freschi e lavorati con cura, sapori decisi ma non pesanti, chiudi gli occhi e sei in Grecia di nuovo. Ho preso tzatziki con pita, poi una terrina di bugiurdi, un’insalata greca e per finire come dolce lo yogurt greco con miele e noci. Come già detto tutto ottimo ed abbondante, ho apprezzato anche lo stile dei piatti utilizzati, davvero carini. Il mio compagno ha preso una porzione di giros di maiale, cotto al momento e servito con pita, cetrioli, pomodori e tzatziki. Maiale tenerissimo e molto gustoso. Purtroppo la Mussaka era terminata, ma torneremo sicuramente per assaggiarla. Ambiente silenzioso con musica greca di sottofondo a volume basso che ci ha accompagnati in questo piccolo viaggio, ogni tanto si sentiva lo chef canticchiare lasciandoti immaginare ancor di più di essere davvero a casa sua. What a really great restaurant. A warm welcome from the impeccable and delightful Chloe was given to us upon arrival and nothing was too much trouble and very attentive without being over fussy. The food is really superb, good ingredients, well presented and perfectly cooked and accompanied by some nice wines from Santorini. At the end of our meal the owner and chef came out to speak with us and wish us a warm farewell and this was without doubt the best meal we had during our 2 week holiday in the beautiful country of Italy.
