New Gluten Free Food — Restaurant in Rome

Imagine my surprise. An American from Philadelphia living in Trastevere for 6 weeks with late in life allergies to gluten and dairy, worried about dining options. New Food. An amazing find. 500 meters from my flat I find a walk-in take out bakery. Fresh bread baked daily. 6 fresh baked flat breads, olive oil, basil, tomatoes, with vegan cheese. Best gluten and dairy free place I HAVE EVER been. Do not miss this .. even if your dietary needs are different .. you are going to walk out...

I tried the pizza and a profiterole(????) with custard..... both were excellent.

I was sceptical about it so I only had a small slice... which she cut to the size of my choosing. I think that may have been about 2euro . She was very patient with me speaking English and helpful. I arrived just before closing time so I missed out on trying more things.

I will go to their restaurant in prati for sure.

Yes you can tell its gluten free but not in a bad...

Il nuovo pane a lievitazione naturale è buono ma spesso risulta troppo cotto (punte del filone praticamente bruciate e immangiabili) ed, in più, ad un prezzo esorbitante (...senza neanche essere biologico, che, forse, potrebbe giustificare il sovrapprezzo). Bisogna entrare nell'ordine di idee, che chi mangia senza glutine lo fa... perché non ha scelta!!!! Dunque, pagare il doppio del prezzo del pane "normale", per un filone di pane s/g, lo trovo veramente un'esagerazione e un modo di approfittare della situazione!! Pizza abbastanza buona (di tipo "romana", ossia bassa, che, per una "senza glutine" è un vantaggio, almeno non risulta gommosa) ma spesso, anche questa, troppo cotta (bruciacchiata sotto - il bruciato fa male!!) e qualche volta con poco sapore (es. la pizza con le zucchine e quella con le patate), insomma... dovete andare a fortuna!! (E visti i prezzi...) Dolci discreti, quelli in busta, (es. saporelli, biscotti ) ma con molti conservanti (e, spesso, non prodotti da loro); discreti anche quelli "sfusi" (es. frappe, castagnole..)... ma nulla di più. Nota positiva: si trova qualche buona birra (es. artigianale o ipa, in vetro o in lattina, a seconda della disponibilità del negozio) Nel complesso, non posso dare più...
