Ristorante Rossovino da Maurizio — Restaurant in Rome

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Rosso Vino Da Maurizio. The food was excellent, and our waiter most helpful. The atmosphere is very nice, prices seem good. As I said, our waiter was very helpful: went out of his way to describe dishes. Rather than slavishly point out items on the menu, he took time to ask us what we would like, and guided us through suggestions. He made every effort to be sure we would be satisfied. My wife had Porcini mushrooms as an appetizer, which were exquisite in taste and preparation. For an entree she had the sea bass, which was beautifully prepared and elegantly presented. We had a light pastry like dish. Sadly, we don't remember the name of the dish, but I have included a picture of it. It was light and delicious, as if the flavors were being delivered on a cloud. I had the Pulpo Salad as an appetizer. My wife was not thrilled about having octopus, but loved the marvelous flavors and textures that the Pulpo Salad brought forth. I had Risotto Rossovino with shrimp as an entree. Several people have commented on this superb house special, which is truly what risotto should be. Our waiter suggesed the house wines, which were a perfect accompaniment to our meal. Portions were ample, prices reasonable, and atmosphere quite nice. I recently had dinner at this cozy restaurant, and honestly — the food was delicious and very well-prepared. The dish looked appetizing, with a golden crispy crust and rich flavors — you can tell the chefs here know what they’re doing. The portion was generous, served hot and nicely presented. I also calculated the calories of this dish using the service shown on the photo attached to the review. The restaurant seem’d more upscale by it’s reviews and ambiance. But sadly the food is not good. Beef tasting like dog food, no, I wouldn’t even feed a dog this kind of food. You can see the picture attached, it looks bad, tried taking a few bites and just gave up. Also ordered “risotto” with sea food… yea, let’s just say that a risotto cooked in 5 minutes is only a sad excuse of a rice, a not cooked rice. It was sticking to your teeth. They also included not ordered items on the check, some bread that we didn’t even touch. Do not recommend this horrible place. Do not get fooled by the good reviews. Repeat....
